SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University women's lacrosse team moved up one place to No. 13 in the USA Lacrosse Magazine Division II national poll and held steady at No. 21 in the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association poll when both organizations updated their rankings Monday.
Â
The latest updates to the polls come after Slippery Rock went 1-0 last week with a 20-9 road win at Gannon to open Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division play.
Â
The Rock own a 6-1 overall record and are coming off a five-game road swing that included games at four teams that are either ranked or receiving votes this week. Entering the weekend, Slippery Rock was one of just 15 teams in the country with one or fewer losses on the season.
Â
No. 2 West Chester leads five PSAC teams in the IWLCA rankings this week, which are the rankings generally used by the NCAA throughout the season. The Golden Rams are 7-0 and own the only record in the PSAC better than Slippery Rock. East Stroudsburg, which lost at home to SRU 12-6 earlier this month, moved up one spot to No. 12 this week. Kutztown dropped two spots to No. 14 and Seton Hill and Slippery Rock held steady at No. 15 and No. 21, respectively.
Â
The Rock return home this week for a pair of PSAC West matches that will mark their first home action since March 1. Edinboro visits Wednesday for a 4 p.m. game and Indiana (Pa.) will visit Saturday for a noon game.
