LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Slippery Rock University women's soccer goalkeeper
Leah Allman was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division Defensive Athlete of the Week for the second consecutive week, and the fourth time in her career, the conference office announced on Monday.
Allman, a goalkeeper from Olmsted Township, Ohio, earns Slippery Rock its third consecutive PSAC West Defensive Athlete of the Week:
Sydney Smith also earned the award on Oct. 20.
Allman is the first Rock player to earn consecutive PSAC Weekly awards since Emma Yoder earned back-to-back PSAC West Defensive Athlete of the Week awards in 2021.
Allman guided Slippery Rock to a 1-0-1 week, totaling eight saves in a 1-0 shutout victory against Clarion and a 2-2 draw with No. 9 Gannon University.
Allman was not forced to make a save in a the game against Clarion, as
Libby Zacharyasz scored a game-winner in the 84
th minute as Slippery Rock defeated the Golden Eagles, 1-0.
Allman was tested seven times in the first half agaisnt Gannon and had an answer each time, keeping the game 0-0 at halftime. Gannon scored twice in the second half before
Marissa Salisbury and
Bailey McGee each scored to tie the game up with less that 15 minutes left to play. Allman made a crucial stop in the second half, ensuring the game ended in a 2-2 draw.
Allman has started all 15 games for SRU and owns a 0.91 goals against average and a .803 save percentage with six shutouts on the season.
Unbeaten in eight straight games, Slippery Rock sits atop the PSAC West standings with a 11-1-1 conference record and a 11-3-1 record overall. The Rock will be back in action 3 p.m. Wednesday against Seton Hill University at James Egli Field. With a win, Slippery Rock would clinch its first PSAC West title since 2019.
