ASHLAND, Ohio – The Slippery Rock University women's track & field team recorded 17 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference qualifying marks, one event win and 27 top-10 finishes Saturday at the Ashland Invitational at the Niss Athletic Center at Ashland University.

The victory came from
Samantha Gilbert, who capped a busy day by winning the long jump with a leap of 5.65 meters. Gilbert also took fourth in the 60-meter dash in 7.67 seconds, just missing her own SRU record of 7.65 seconds. She also ran the lead leg of the sixth place 4x400-meter relay, where she teamed with
Shannon McCullough,
Lydia Reed and
Jianna Long to post a time of 4:05.70.

Long tallied a pair of PSAC marks in addition to running the anchor leg in the relay. She was fourth in the 400-meter dash in 57.95 seconds and seventh in the 200-meter dash in 25.75 seconds.

Anna Igims and
Ruthie Hughes led the distance runners in the 3,000-meter race with Igims taking second in 10:05.28 and Hughes finishing third in a 20-second personal best in 10:06.86.
Jennifer Cichra led the mid-distance runners with PSAC marks in both the 800-meter run and the mile. She took eighth in the mile in 5:12.37 and 11th in the 800m in 2:22.86.

Chaley Younkin rounded out the PSAC qualifying marks on the track with a fifth place finish in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.21 seconds.

The Rock tallied five PSAC marks in the throwing events with three in the shot put and two in the weight throw.
Becca Martin led a trio of top-10 finishers in the shot put with a fourth place finish and a toss of 13.24 meters.
Olivia Heckman was fifth with a mark of 12.90 meters and
Savannah Schneck was ninth at 12.57 meters. Schneck also finished 10th in the weight throw with a heave of 15.10 meters.
Autumn Stewart joined her in hitting the PSAC standard in 15th place with a throw of 14.41 meters.

The final PSAC marks came in the jumps with
Aleks Brozeski placing fourth in the triple jump with a leap of 11.14 meters,
Paige Griffith finishing fifth in the high jump with a clearance of 1.59 meters and
Allie Taylor finishing sixth in the pole vault with a clearance of 3.40 meters.

Slippery Rock was competing Saturday for the first time in a stretch of six weeks after taking a long break between the semesters. The Rock will now compete every weekend for the rest of the indoor track & field season, beginning next Saturday at Mount Union.
