SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University men's track & field team celebrated its first home meet of the season by recording 26 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference qualifying marks, four NCAA provisional marks, six event wins and 48 top-10 finishes at the Dave Labor Invitational Saturday at the William Lennox Track.

The Rock hosted nearly 1,100 athletes from more than 30 colleges in a meet that began at 10 a.m. and wrapped up under the lights at 10 p.m.

The highlights of the day for SRU came in the shot put, where
Seaton Wozniak and
Joshua Gose both went over 17.00 meters to sweep the top two spots, the short sprints, where
AJ Virata swept the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes in season-best times and the pole vault, where
Dan Hyatt won the event with an NCAA provisional mark.

Virata opened the met by clocking a career-best and NCAA provisional time of 10.46 seconds on the way to winning the 100-meter dash. He came back later in the day and clocked a season-best time of 21.24 seconds to win the 200-meter dash, just missing the NCAA provisional standard (21.21).
Kyle Rauchut also hit the PSAC mark in the 200m with a season-best of 21.88 seconds to take third.

Wozniak and Gose both threw season-bests in the shot put with Wozniak winning the event with a career-best and NCAA provisional throw of 17.11 meters. He just edged Gose, who was second with an NCAA mark of 17.08 meters.
Joshua Rohland was 17th at 14.06 meters and
Zach Gose was 18th at 14.05 meters to give SRU four men with at least the PSAC standard in the event. Wozniak also took third in the discus with a toss of 46.10 meters, while
Zach Gose was fourth at 43.99 meters. Zach then finished his day with a runner-up finish in the hammer with a toss of 49.57 meters. Rohland was sixth (46.12m), followed by
Chad Hepler in seventh (44.27m) and
Earnie Zilka in eighth (44.19m). SRU closed out its 12 PSAC marks in the throws with
Josh Kingerski finishing fifth in the javelin (57.68m) and
Joseph Reed taking sixth (54.16m).

Hyatt won the pole vault with an NCAA provisional mark of 4.95 meters to lead four SRU athletes to the PSAC standard.
Bradon Schneider was third at 4.65 meters, followed by
Andy Huynh and
Cullen Birkes in fifth with matching marks of 4.35 meters.

Taye Lynch rounded out the field event wins with a first place showing in the triple jump with a leap of 13.52 meters and
Logan Turton and
Grady Cobb both picked up PSAC marks in the high jump. Turton was fourth at 1.93 meters and Cobb was fifth at 1.88 meters.

Matthew Crow picked up a win in the 110-meter hurdles in 14.56 seconds to lead the hurdlers.
Jonathan Wess was fourth in a PSAC time of 15.18 seconds.
Owen Rindler capped the PSAC efforts in the hurdles with a third place finish in the 400-meter hurdles in 56.82 seconds.

SRU got a pair of PSAC marks in the 10,000-meter run with
Michael Novak taking eighth in 33:12.87 and
Ryan Czechowski finishing ninth in 33:13.04.

Saturday's meet marked the first of two home meets for SRU this spring with the next home event scheduled for April 18. Before then, The Rock will travel to three different meets next week, competing Thursday and Friday at Susquehanna, Friday and Saturday at Westminster and Friday through Sunday at Bucknell.
