Slippery Rock is 16-25 against Seton Hill all-time with the last six games having been split, 3-3. Slippery Rock's sweep at Kasnevich Field over SHU last year was the team's first since 2007. The Rock defeated the Griffins in 2-1 and 4-0 victories and picked up three of the four games on the season.
Â
The Rock will be meeting the Fighting Scots on the diamond for the 146
th time Saturday, with Edinboro holding a 79-66 all-time series lead. Both teams have a lead on their home turf, with Edinboro recording a 43-24 record when hosting Slippery Rock. With last year's away games at Edinboro moved to Erie, this will be SRU's first trip to Edinboro since 2019.

Â
WHERE THEY STAND
While Slippery Rock still controls its own destiny in qualifying for the PSAC Tournament, The Rock will be closely monitoring Thursday's doubleheader between Gannon and Edinboro.
Â
Slippery Rock will have the opportunity to clinch a berth in the PSAC Tournament by splitting with Seton Hill Friday if Gannon sweeps Edinboro Thursday. If the Golden Knights and Fighting Scots split, The Rock could clinch a spot in the postseason with a sweep of the Griffins.
Â
With eight of the nine PSAC West teams still needing to play at least four games in the regular season, there are a plethora of ways Slippery Rock could finish the year as high as the third seed or as low as seventh in the division. Â
Â
While the top five teams in each division will qualify for the PSAC Tournament May 1-4 in Quakertown, Pennsylvania, the top three teams in each division will receive a bye through the first round of the double-elimination tournament.
Â
LEADING THE ROCK
Arielle Brown leads Slippery Rock's offense as the lone batter north of .300. The infielder from Galena, Ohio has averaged .318 at the plate this season going 42-for-132. Brown has slugged .371 with an on-base percentage of .486, also a team-high.
Â
Alexsa Hurd (.298) begins the weekend just shy of .300 after being named PSAC West Athlete of the Week following five home runs in nine games. Hurd has now hit six home runs in 10 games with eight total homers and nine doubles on the year. The utility player is slugging .532 with a .390 on-base rate.
Â
Julia Montie (.293) leads Slippery Rock with 10 home runs as well as a squad-best 29 RBI, 13 doubles and one triple. The centerfielder is slugging a whopping .614 while having rounded 86 total bases in her 46 appearances.
Â
Aubrey Mansfield (.273) has been prolific in the batter's box as of late with at least one hit in 11 of her last 13 games. She has homered three times and driven in 12 runs in that span.
Â
Julia Nutter (.269) has slugged .519 this season with seven home runs and 20 RBI. The infielder from Columbiana, Ohio has crushed three home runs past the outfield in her last five games, coming into the weekend on a five-game hit streak.
Â
Jeanna Sukey has put the ball in play in seven of her last nine games with a plate appearance, recording her first career home run earlier this week at Gannon. She has totaled eight RBI in the last eight games.
Â
Naomi Childs (.377) has gone to the plate just 53 times this year in 36 games but has been an offensive asset with 20 hits and an RBI. She has recorded five hits through her last five appearances, going 5-for-10 in the four-game series against Pitt-Johnstown.
Â
Mackenzie Freeman (.304),
Emma Kennedy (.235) and
Grace Smith (.220) have combined for seven home runs and 42 RBI this season, all accounting for home runs in PSAC West play this year.
Â
25 WINNING SEASONS ON THE HOME DIAMOND
With a 10-4 record at home, Slippery Rock has the opportunity to end the regular season with one of its best marks on home soil in program history.
Â
A sweep versus Seton Hill would leave Slippery Rock at 12-4 through the 2024 campaign at Kasnevich Field, its first 12-win season at home since a 12-5 record in 2007.
Â
Slippery Rock has multiple 10-win seasons at home, most recently a 10-12 showing in 2021. The Rock posted a 10-2 (.833) record at home in 1989, its best winning percentage at home in program history.
Â
Since the birth of the program, Slippery Rock is 24-19-3 in recording winning seasons at home. Regardless of the outcome in the SHU doubleheader, Slippery Rock will earn its 25
th winning record at home in program history Friday and its second in the last three years. Â
Â
MONTIE LEADS THE BOMBSQUAD
With 10 home runs, Montie has raked the most of the 10 different home-run hitters SRU has produced this season. In total, Slippery Rock has hit 41 home runs on the year, ranking third in the all-time single-season record book.
Â
The Rock produced a program-best 46 home runs in 2007 and followed that up with 42 homers in the 2008 season.
Â
Hurd is coming off her 25
th career home run in the 8-7 win over Clarion, now eight back from Jenna Geibel's 33 from 2010-13 for third all-time.
Â
After her first career shot earlier this week at Gannon, Sukey became the 10
th different player for SRU with a home run in 2024. The Rock produced nine different home-run sluggers last year.
Â
BROWN AROUND THE BAGS
An on-base percentage of .486 ranks Brown ninth in the PSAC. On top of her team-high .318 batting average, Brown is walked 0.7 times per game, which ranks second in the PSAC and 27
th in Division II.
Â
Once on base, Brown has been consistently successful advancing by ranking eighth in the conference with 19 stolen bases.
Â
MOVE HER ON OVER
With 0.2 sacrifice bunts per game, Childs ranks on top of the PSAC West and 34
th nationally throughout Division II. The junior outfielder from Boise, Idaho has sac-bunted eight times this year, while Slippery Rock as a team ranks first in the PSAC West with 39 total sac-bunts, also good enough for 37
th in Division II.
Â
KELSI ON A TEAR
Anderson, the most experienced pitcher in Slippery Rock softball history, had a 4-9 record April 16 but enters the weekend with a 9-10 mark in the circle after winning five of her last six games. The veteran from Dublin, Ohio has struck out 53 batters in her last 38.2 innings pitched, averaging 9.6 strikeouts per seven innings in that span.
Â
Most notably in those six most recent appearances, Anderson earned her first career no-hitter and the 11
th documented no-hitter in SRU history April 18 in an 8-0 win against Edinboro. In that performance, Anderson fanned nine of the 16 batters faced, simultaneously picking up her program-best 34
th career win.
Â
SLIPPERY ROCK IS SLUGGING
The Rock have hit .400 or better as a team in six of their last 11 games and have averaged above .300 in eight of those 11 contests. The Rock hit a season-high .524 against Mercyhurst University in a 9-1 win April 16 and recorded batting averages of .462, .400 and .467 in three of the four games against Pitt-Johnstown last weekend.
Â
Slippery Rock's offense has averaged 10.6 hits per game since April 17, a span of nine games.
Â
THE BULLPEN REPORT
Hurd (8-10, 1) leads Slippery Rock's pitchers with a 2.81 ERA on the season as well as 140 total strikeouts tossed in 114.2 innings. Anderson (9-10) is just behind her with a 3.89 ERA and 137 strikeouts in 117.0 innings under her belt.
Â
Mackenzie Borkovich (5-3) pitched 5.2 innings in game one against Edinboro April 18 as well as 5.2 innings in game one against Pitt-Johnstown April 21. On the year, the sophomore has netted 41 Ks in 60.1 innings pitched.
Â
A SUPERB STAFF OF PITCHERS
Slippery Rock's bullpen continues to lead the PSAC West with a 3.53 ERA. With 7.6 strikeouts per seven innings, Slippery Rock ranks eighth in Division II. In the Atlantic Region, Slippery Rock stands at third in that category behind East Stroudsburg University (9.1) and the University of Charleston (8.1).
Â
Individually, Hurd is ranked fourth in the PSAC while Anderson is sixth in strikeouts per inning. The duo finds themselves 31
st and 41
st in Division II, respectively. Hurd averages 8.5 strikeouts per seven frames while Anderson has recorded 8.2.
Â
RECORD WATCH
With 103 runs, Brown ranks third all-time in runs scored and is just six away from tying Jordan Zeunges's 109 runs scored from 2008-11. Head coach
Stacey Rice is the all-time leader with 143 (2005-08).
Â
With her senior year nearing a conclusion, Anderson has averaged 7.8 strikeouts per seven innings in her career, which would put rank her first all-time in SRU history. Just behind her with 7.3 is Hurd. Shaylee Ianno averaged 6.95 strikeouts per seven innings from 2009-12, the most all-time of a non-active player.
Â
Montie is one home run away from her 11
th of the year, which would put her in the top five single-season home run record book by tying Geibel's 11 homers his in 2010. Rice sits atop that category as well with 14 homers in 2007.
