SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University men's track & field team won 12 events while recording 29 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference qualifying marks and three NCAA provisional marks at the John Papa Invitational hosted by SRU Thursday.

The Rock had arguably their best overall meet of the season with the highlights coming from a trio of athletes that recorded NCAA provisional marks. That group was headlined by
Joshua Gose with a career-best mark of 17.43 meters in a winning effort in the shot put. That throw moves him up to No. 14 on the Division II leaderboard this spring.
AJ Virata led the way on the track with a win in the 200-meter dash with a season-best and NCAA provisional time of 21.13 seconds.
Dan Hyatt rounded out the NCAA marks with a win in the pole vault and a clearance of 4.95 meters.

Virata also took third in the 100-meter dash in 10.65 seconds behind teammate
Kanye Thompson, who won the event with a season-best time of 10.53 seconds. Those two also teamed with
Matthew Crow and
Jacob Thompson to win the 4x100-meter relay in a season-best time of 40.98 seconds.

Crow also picked up a win of his own in the 110-meter hurdles in 14.53 seconds to lead a trio of SRU athletes to the PSAC standard.
Brenden Lewis was fourth in 14.73 seconds and
Jonathan Wess was eighth after clocking a time of 15.47 seconds in the prelims.

The Rock swept every open event on the track from 1,500 meters down, including all the sprints.
Kyle Rauchut won the 400-meter dash in 49.37 seconds with
Micah Good taking third in 49.73 seconds. Rauchut was also fourth in the 200m in 21.88 seconds with
Jacob Thompson finishing eighth in 22.03 seconds. Thompson and Good then closed their day by teaming with
Vinson Eggleston and
Darien Malawi to take second in the 4x400-meter relay in 3:23.83.

SRU picked up a trio of wins in the distance races with
Devon Navaroli winning the 800-meter run (1:57.40),
Troy Hart winning the 1,500-meter run (4:06.38) and
Ethan Brentham winning the 10,000-meter run (33:20.10).

Owen Rindler and
Cade Adams rounded out the top efforts on the track with a pair of PSAC marks in the 400-meter hurdles. Rindler was second in 54.80 seconds with Adams taking third in 55.73 seconds.

Hyatt was joined in reaching the PSAC mark in the pole vault by
Bradon Schneider, who took third with a clearance of 4.65 meters. The Rock also picked up a pair of PSAC marks in the high jump with
Logan Turton taking third at 1.93 meters and
Grady Cobb finishing fifth at 1.88 meters.
Ian James led the way in the horizontal jumps with a win in the triple jump after a leap of 14.03 meters and
Bryan Dworek rounded out the PSAC marks in the jumps with a third place showing in the long jump with a mark of 6.98 meters.

Slippery Rock closed out a strong day with 10 PSAC marks in the throws, led by
Joshua Gose in the shot put. Gose was also eighth in the hammer with a throw of 45.27 meters. His brother
Zach Gose took 10th in the shot put with a toss of 14.59 meters, was second in the hammer with a throw of 49.69 meters and took fifth in the discus with a throw of 45.82 meters.
Seaton Wozniak was fourth in the discus at 46.34 meters.
Joshua Rohland finished 12th in the shot put with a mark of 14.41 meters and was fifth in the hammer with a throw of 47.12 meters.
Earnie Zilka was seventh in the hammer at 45.42 meters and
Josh Kingerski rounded out the top efforts for the throwers with a win in the javelin with a throw of 55.64 meters.

Slippery Rock is set to compete in a pair of meets next week and will be in action Thursday at Walsh University in Ohio and Saturday at Ashland University in Ohio.
