WEST LIBERTY TIM WEAVER INVITE RESULTS
PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University men's track & field team recorded 24 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference qualifying marks, two NCAA provisional marks and broke one stadium record across a pair of meets that wrapped up Saturday evening from Carnegie Mellon University and West Liberty University.

The Rock sent roughly 50 athletes to the two different meets this weekend that began Friday and concluded Saturday. The highlights of the weekend belonged to the 4x100-meter relay team that set the stadium record at Carnegie Mellon and throwers
Joshua Gose and
Josh Kingerski, who each hit NCAA provisional marks with Gose winning the shot put at CMU and Kingerski winning the javelin at West Liberty.

Slippery Rock will return to action next Saturday at its first of two home meets this spring with the Dave Labor Invitational set for Saturday at the Bill Lennox Track.

CARNEGIE MELLON INVITATIONAL RECAP
Â
Slippery Rock sent most of its team to Carnegie Mellon in Pittsburgh this weekend, where Gose won the shot put with a season-best and NCAA provisional toss of 16.90 meters to highlight the individual efforts. His brother
Zach Gose took fourth in the shot put with a toss of 14.53 meters and then led four SRU throwers to PSAC marks in the hammer with a runner-up finish and a mark of 52.34 meters.
Joshua Gose was sixth at 48.04 meters, followed by
Joshua Rohland in eighth at 45.43 meters and
Earnie Zilka in 10th at 44.14 meters.

The other highlights from CMU came on the track and belonged to the short sprinters.
Kanye Thompson and
AJ Virata went 1-2 in the 100-meter dash with Thompson winning in 10.70 seconds and Virata coming home next in 10.74 seconds. They also teamed with
Matthew Crow and
Bryan Dworek to win the 4x100-meter relay in a season-best time of 41.18 seconds, which broke the stadium record at CMU.

Crow took second in both hurdle races, finishing the 110-meter hurdles in 14.96 seconds and the 400-meter hurdles in 55.30 seconds.
Cade Adams was fourth in the 400m hurdles in 56.09 and
Owen Rindler was fifth in 56.27 as SRU had three men hit the PSAC qualifying mark in the event.

SRU also had three men hit the PSAC mark in the 5,000-meter run with
Troy Hart leading the way in sixth place in 14:58.32.
Ethan Brentham was eighth in 15:06.43 and
Joseph Cintavey was ninth in 15:15.01.

The PSAC marks at CMU were capped by the pole vault foursome of
Drew Layton,
Dan Hyatt,
Bradon Schneider and
Andy Huynh. Layton was second with a clearance of 4.62 meters, followed by Hyatt and Schneider in third and fourth at 4.47 meters and Huynh in sixth at 4.32 meters.

The Rock sent select throwers, jumpers and multi-event athletes to West Liberty this weekend, where
Josh Kingerski led the individual efforts with a win in the javelin with an NCAA provisional toss of 58.71 meters.
Joseph Reed was second with a PSAC mark of 53.62 meters as SRU swept the top two spots in the event.

Gavin Thomas had a strong performance over two days to win the decathlon with a score of 5,704 points. Along the way, Thomas uncorked a season-best effort of 7.02 meters in the long jump to hit the PSAC standard in that event as well.
Kyle Adams took third in the decathlon with 4,549 points.

Seaton Wozniak won both the shot put and the discus throw at West Liberty with PSAC marks in each. He took the the shot put with a toss of 16.44 meters and won the discus with a throw of 44.53 meters.

The final PSAC mark from West Liberty came from
Dan Hyatt, who took first in the pole vault with a clearance of 4.55 meters after jumping in both meets this weekend.
