YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Slippery Rock University men's track & field team tallied 18 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference qualifying marks, three NCAA provisional marks and won two events at the YSU Mid-Major Invitational that wrapped up Saturday evening from Youngstown State.

The Rock got victories from
Zach Gose in the weight throw and
Zack Duda in the heptathlon and picked up a trio of NCAA provisional qualifying marks in the pole vault.

Gose topped the field in the weight throw with a mark of 16.84 meters and also took 10th in the shot put with a toss of 14.32 meters. He followed
Seaton Wozniak in the shot put with Wozniak taking fourth with a mark of 16.20 meters. Wozniak also took fourth in the rarely-contested discus throw with a mark of 47.94 meters.

Duda led a strong showing for Slippery Rock in the multi-event competition with a victory in the heptathlon with a score of 4,535 points.
Gavin Thomas was second with a mark of 4,331 points and
Ethan Folmer took sixth with a score of 3,997 points.

Drew Layton led the way in the pole vault with a fifth place finish and a career-best and NCAA provisional clearance of 4.84 meters.
Dan Hyatt was ninth and
Bradon Schneider was 10th with both men also recording the same NCAA mark of 4.84 meters.
Andy Huynh took 15th in the competition with a PSAC mark of 4.39 meters to give SRU four conference qualifiers in the event.

The Rock also picked up one PSAC mark in each of the other jumping events.
Ian James took third in the triple jump with a leap of 13.65 meters,
Bryan Dworek was fifth in the long jump with a leap of 6.87 meters and
Logan Turton took ninth in the high jump with a clearance of 1.88 meters.

Matthew Crow tallied the highest individual finish on the track with a third place showing in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.28 seconds.
Brenden Lewis was seventh at 8.46 seconds. Crow then closed out the meet by teaming with
Kadin Johnson,
Jacob Thompson and
Kyle Rauchut to take third in the 4x400-meter relay in 3:18.27.

Rauchut, Thompson and Johnson all hit the PSAC standard in the open 400-meter dash earlier in the meet with Rauchut leading the way in ninth at 50.18 seconds. Thompson was 12th at 50.41 seconds and Johnson was 13th at 50.45 seconds.

Ethan Brentham locked up a PSAC qualifying mark in the 5,000-meter run with a seventh place finish in 15:33.13 and
John Juszynski qualified in the 3,000-meter run with a 13th place finish in 8:52.33.

The top performances of the weekend were rounded out by the distance medley relay team of
Ryan Corbitt,
Vinson Eggleston,
Brady Hoffman and
Anthony Robare, who combined to finish seventh in 10:46.39.

Slippery Rock will travel to the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio next Saturday for a final tune-up before the PSAC Championships.
