SERIES HISTORY
Saturday will mark the 31st meeting between The Rock and the Golden Eagles. In the series that began in 2001, Slippery Rock holds a 27-1-2 (.933) advantage over Clarion. The two draws came in 2010 and 2013, and The Rock's lone loss to Clarion occurred in 2021. SRU is 14-0 when hosting the Golden Eagles. Slippery Rock's home dominance has been so significant that Clarion has not scored a goal on SRU's campus since 2008. Slippery Rock has outscored Clarion at home 27-0 in the last eight matches.

LAST MEETING
Slippery Rock swept Clarion in a pair of 4-0 victories last season, the second of which came Oct. 29 on the road. Despite leading in shots at halftime, 13-1, The Rock only led 1-0 at the break, thanks to an 18th minute Kayla Swope goal. In the second half, Slippery Rock turned the afterburners on with three goals in under four minutes. Maddie DeLucio, Brooke Riefenstahl and Morgan Sarver each picked up a goal. Patrick and Swope had two assists apiece while Sarver had one.

LAST TIME OUT
Slippery Rock hosted Edinboro Sept. 20 in a 1-0 victory. The Rock outshot the Fighting Scots 25-3, but it took until the 25th shot for Slippery Rock to get on the board. Libby Zacharyasz struck a cross from Sarver off her leg in the 87th minute past the Edinboro keeper for the game's sole score. The match marked Leah Allman's third career shutout, as she made two stops.

AN OFFENSIVE BARRAGE
One of the most dangerous offensive units in the country, Slippery Rock enters the Clarion game ranked 11th in the nation in total goals with 17 and 29th in goals per game at 2.43. SRU has tallied 47 points on 17 goals and 13 assists, which also ranks 11th in the country, so far in 2023.

Having taken 39 shots over the last two matches, Slippery Rock now averages 22 shots per game, which ranks fourth in Division II. In total, The Rock has taken 154 shots, second nationally to Frostburg State University (174).

Additionally, Slippery Rock is also second in Division II in corner kicks with 59, three off Edward Waters University's DII-best 62.

STANDOUTS IN THE CROWD
Sydney Patrick leads The Rock with 12 points on four goals and four assists, with her scoring efforts coming from eight shots on goal. Across the PSAC, Patrick ranks second in the conference in points, third in assists and fifth in goals.

Patrick has enjoyed a great deal of success over her career against Clarion with two goals and three assists in four games versus the Golden Eagles.

Sarver's numbers continue to rise as well. She now up to 11 points on three goals and a PSAC-best five assists. Sarver has taken 42 shots this season, an average of six per match. After taking six shots against Edinboro, Sarver officially became the top shot-taker in Division II.

DEFENSIVE SCORERS
Zacharyasz became the team's 11th different goal scorer of the season with her game-winning goal against Edinboro. Each of the team's four starting defenders now have a point, with Zacharyasz joining Faith Diffenbacher with two points on one goal. Nina King and Brooke Riefenstahl each have one point from one assist.

ROUNDING OUT THE ROCK ATTACK
SRU's other multi-goal scorer on the year, Ashley Rea ranks third for The Rock in total points with five on two goals and one assist.

Olivia Yoder has chipped in three points via one goal and one assist while Skylar Munnikhuysen, Sophia Palermo, Lindsey Price and Briona Rice have all tallied one goal apiece.

RED HOT AT THE ROCK
A win Saturday against Clarion would kick Slippery Rock's season off to a 5-0 start while playing at home. SRU has not accomplished such a feat since 2007, when it went 12-0 at home on the season. Slippery Rock started 3-0 at home in 2018, with a home record of 7-1-1 by the end of the year.

The Rock started the 2004 and 2006 seasons at 5-0 before tying their sixth home game each year. Slippery Rock also ran the table at home in 2003, going 9-0 en route to a 4-3 PSAC Championship win over Lock Haven University.

A TRIO OF SHUTOUTS
SRU's 1-0 win over Edinboro marked Allman's third shutout of the season, second in the PSAC to East Stroudsburg University's Emmy Clarkson who has four. Allman's GAA improved to 1.37. She has made 13 saves, bettering her save percentage to .591.

WIN #100 ON THE HORIZON
A win on Saturday would not only give SRU a 6-2 start to the season, but it would also signify the 100th career victory for head coach Jessica Giegucz. After beginning her head coaching career with 11 wins in 2014 at Division III Northland College, Giegucz took over the Slippery Rock program in 2015 and has gone on to post an 88-40-17 record during her SRU tenure.

SOMETHING TO KEEP AN EYE ON
Slippery Rock has taken 154 shots in seven games in 2023. SRU's single-season program record is 429, coming in 2007. In shots per game, Slippery Rock's single-season record also came in 2007, with 18.65. Through seven games, The Rock averages 22 shots per game.

A year ago, Slippery Rock totaled 290 shots, 13th most in school history. It's 15.26 shots per game ranked 12th.

WHERE THEY STAND
Slippery Rock's 4-1 start in the conference puts The Rock at 12 points in the PSAC West standings and in a tie for first place with Mercyhurst.

While the Lakers would own the tiebreaker over SRU if the season ended today via their win against The Rock in Erie earlier in the season, Slippery Rock have positioned itself to be in clear contention for a PSAC Tournament berth and another divisional crown as the season progresses.

Clarion's 1-4 start ties the Golden Eagles with Pitt-Johnstown for eighth, currently three points out of playoff contention.
