MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The Slippery Rock University men's track and field team recorded 26 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference qualifying marks and two NCAA provisional marks across two meets in two different states this weekend, culminating Saturday night with 12 event wins at the Mountaineer Twilight hosted by West Virginia University.
Â
The Rock had three throwers compete Friday at the historic Penn Relays at Franklin Field and all three had to endure heavy rain and cold temperatures during their events.
John Eakin and
Joshua Gose were the only non-Division I throwers to finish in the top 10 of the shot put and
Dalton Anderson was the top non-Division I finisher in the javelin. Eakin finished fourth in the shot put with a toss of 16.98 meters, while Gose was fifth with a throw of 16.92 meters as both men met the NCAA provisional standard despite the poor weather. Anderson was fourth in the javelin with a throw of 57.76 meters.
Â
Slippery Rock was far and away the largest team at West Virginia's evening meet Saturday night with more than 40 athletes competing. The Rock used that depth to pick up wins in 12 different events, including seven of the eight total field events.
Â
SRU won three of the four throwing events, led by
Seaton Wozniak with a pair of wins in the discus (45.74m) and the shot put (15.61m).

Zach Gose was third at 46.37 meters. SRU closed out its PSAC marks in the throws with a second place finish in the javelin from
Josh Kingerski with a toss of 52.41 meters.
Â
SRU won all four of the jumping events with
Dan Hyatt winning the pole vault (4.60m),
Zack Duda winning the high jump (1.83m),
Ian James winning the triple jump (13.90m) and
Gavin Thomas winning the long jump with a career-best effort of 7.09 meters.
Taye Lynch took second in the triple jump with a PSAC mark of 13.86 meters.

Kanye Thompson,
Matthew Crow and
Bryan Dworek to run 41.39 seconds.
Kadin Johnson rounded out the top efforts of the sprinters with a win in the 400-meter dash with a season-best time of 49.03 seconds.
Â
Crow won the 110-meter hurdles to lead SRU to three PSAC marks with his winning effort of 15.44 seconds.
Brenden Lewis was third in 15.58 seconds and

Darien Malawi was fourth in 58.23 seconds.
Â
