ALLIANCE, Ohio –
Joshua VanDeMark broke the Slippery Rock University record in the indoor weight throw to lead The Rock men's indoor track and field team to 17 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference qualifying marks, three NCAA provisional marks and 27 top-10 finishes at the Raider Tune-Up hosted by the University of Mount Union Saturday.

VanDeMark uncorked a career-best and NCAA provisional throw of 18.94 meters to place third overall in the weight throw competition, setting a new SRU record in the process. The previous record of 18.67 meter was set by Chris Warning in 2011. VanDeMark's record is the second SRU men's indoor record to fall in the last three weeks after
Bryan Dworek also broke the long jump record.

The Rock had four men place in the top 10 in the weight throw with PSAC marks with
Joshua Rohland finishing sixth with a mark of 16.12 meters,
Joshua Gose placing seventh at 15.71 meters and
Brandon McCray finishing eighth at 14.83 meters.

SRU's other two NCAA marks on the day came in the shot put, where Gose led the way with a career-best throw of 16.97 meters. All three of his measured throws in the competition were at or above his former best throw.
John Eakin took second with an NCAA mark of 16.49 meters and
Seaton Wozniak was sixth at 15.24 meters to give SRU three throwers with PSAC marks in the event.

Slippery Rock won a total of five events Saturday with
Zack Duda picking up a pair of wins by sweeping the horizontal jumps. He won the long jump with a leap of 6.85 meters and won the triple jump with a leap of 13.55 meters.
Ethan Folmer also hit the PSAC mark in the triple jump with a third place finish and a leap of 13.27 meters.

Dan Hyatt and
Jakob Graff capped the PSAC marks in the field when Hyatt placed fourth in the pole vault with a clearance of 4.72 meters and Graff was seventh at 4.32 meters.

SRU picked up two wins on the track with
Matthew Crow winning the 60-meter hurdles and
Ethan Brentham winning the 5,000-meter run. Crow topped the field in the hurdles in 8.39 seconds to lead three SRU runners to PSAC marks.
Brenden Lewis was third in 8.54 seconds and
Jack Keenan was seventh in 8.83 seconds. Brentham cruised to a comfortable win in the 5,000m in 15:46.18.

The final PSAC mark on the track came from
AJ Virata, who lowered his season-best in the 60-meter dash to 6.97 seconds on his way to placing fourth in the event.

Saturday marked the final tune-up for Slippery Rock before the PSAC Championships next Saturday and Sunday at Bucknell University.
