SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. — The Slippery Rock University women's soccer team will look to extend its unbeaten streak to seven when it kicks off 6 p.m. Wednesday at Edinboro.
 
Having clinched a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Tournament berth with its 2-1 win against Indiana University (Pa.) last week, Slippery Rock enters Wednesday's road contest with a record of 10-3-2 overall and 9-2-2 in PSAC West play. Edinboro comes in at 4-6-4 overall and 4-5-3 in PSAC West competition.

SERIES HISTORY vs. EDINBORO
Wednesday marks the 41^st all-time meeting between The Rock and the Fighting Scots, with Slippery Rock holding a 27-5-8 record. SRU holds a seven-game winning streak over Edinboro, as well as a four-game shutout streak over the Fighting Scots. In the past four matches, Slippery Rock has outscored Edinboro, 9-0.
 
Slippery Rock has only lost at Edinboro once, holding a 13-1-5 away record against Edinboro. The Rock's lone road loss to Edinboro is also their most recent loss against the Fighting Scots, dropping a 2-1 decision in 2019.

LAST MEETING
Slippery Rock hosted Edinboro Sept. 20, coming away with a 1-0 win. The Rock controlled possession for the majority of the game, peppering the Fighting Scots with 25 total shots, nine of which were on target, while Edinboro mustered just three shots. Despite everything looking like the game would conclude with a 0-0 result, Morgan Sarver sent a cross into the box in the 87^th minute, where Libby Zacharyasz was able to score the game-winner.

LAST TIME OUT
Slippery Rock defeated Indiana (Pa.) on the road, 2-1. IUP scored in the 15^th minute, not allowing a response from SRU until the 75^th minute, when Zacharyasz scored on a corner kick. With the game seemingly drawing 1-1, Zacharyasz scored two goals in a game for the first time in her career by netting the game-winner with just 34 seconds remaining. Both of her goals came from corner kicks assisted by Sydney Patrick.
 
WHERE THEY STAND
Slippery Rock's 2-1 win over IUP secured The Rock's 13^th straight PSAC Tournament berth. SRU remains in third in the PSAC West at 29 points on nine wins and two draws.
 
The Rock are just one point behind Gannon University in second place. Slippery Rock would be guaranteed to host at least the first round of the PSAC Tournament if it were to jump the Golden Knights for second in the division standings at the end of regular season.
 
Edinboro currently sits in the fourth and final PSAC West playoff spot, at 15 points on four wins and three draws. The Fighting Scots are still hungry for points, though as they enter the week just two points ahead of Seton Hill University and three points ahead of Clarion for the all-important fourth spot in the league standings.
 
PRODUCING THE POINTS
15 players have points for Slippery Rock this year, led by Sarver with 21 on team-highs six goals and nine assists. Close behind with 18 points on five goals and eight assists is Patrick, who has recorded six points in the last four games.
 
Sarver and Patrick rank second and fourth, respectively, in the PSAC for assists, while Sarver's 1.4 points per game is fourth in the conference.
 
Adding four goals and three assists for 11 points is Ashley Rea, followed by Maddie DeLucio who has nine points on four goals and one assist.
 
Skylar Munnikhuysen's three goals and one assist grant her seven points, while Zacharyasz's three goals put her at six points on the season. Fellow defender Brooke Riefenstahl comes in at five points on two goals and one assist.
 
Olivia Yoder and Jaime Dermotta have four and three points, respectively, while four players have two points from one goal scored in Faith Diffenbacher, Sophia Palermo, Lindsey Price and Briona Rice. Nina King and Bailey McGee each have one point from one assist.

A PERSISTENT OFFENSE 
As a team, Slippery Rock's 19.2 shots per game rank 13^th in Division II and second in the PSAC. Individually, Sarver's team-leading 4.27 shots per game ranks 11^th in Division II. On the year, Sarver has placed 31 of her 64 total shots on net.
 
DeLucio, Rea and Patrick have fired 32, 31 and 30 shots this year, accounting for 32.3 percent of the team's output.
 
Dermotta continues to be the team's most accurate shot-taker, darting 12 of her 19 shots on target.
 
ANOTHER AWARD ON THE SEASON
Zacharyasz was named the PSAC West Defensive Athlete of the Week for the second time this season, the conference office announced Monday.
 
The Strongsville, Ohio native led The Rock to a 2-0 record last week, picking up a pair of 2-1 victories over No. 18 Mercyhurst University and IUP. She took shots on goal in both games, snapping Mercyhurst's 12-game winning streak before posting her first career brace against IUP to secure SRU's fifth straight victory.
 
Zacharyasz joins Sarver as the second SRU player to win a PSAC West weekly award more than once this season, as she was named PSAC West Defensive Athlete of the Week Sept. 25 as well. With this being The Rock's fifth PSAC Weekly award this season, it marks the most weekly awards won since 2021 when Slippery Rock won six times.
 
RUNNING HOT
Slippery Rock sits on a number of streaks, highlighted by five consecutive wins. The Rock have not won six straight games since 2019, with the sixth win of that streak being the PSAC Championship final against Edinboro.
 
The Rock are also looking to go unbeaten through their seventh straight game, which has not happened since a 4-0-3 series last year.
 
On a more peculiar note, The Rock have won three straight games by a score of 2-1. The last time that Slippery Rock won three games in a row with the same score was 2018, defeating Clarion, Walsh University and Edinboro, each in a 1-0 result.

ON THE VERGE OF A MILESTONE WIN
A win over Edinboro would mark Slippery Rock's 350^th program victory. Slippery Rock won its 300^th all-time win Oct. 20, 2018, by defeating West Chester University, 1-0.

DOUBLE DIGIT WINS
Slippery Rock improved its record to 10-3-2 with its 2-1 win last week against IUP, meaning that SRU has hit the 10-win mark in 24 of its last 25 seasons. The Rock have reached 12 wins in three of their last four seasons.
 
ACTION FROM THE FLAGS
Slippery Rock continues to dominate in corner kicks, now holding an advantage over its opponents, 113-23. The Rock's 7.53 corners per game rank eighth in Division II and first in the PSAC. Through the last six games, Slippery Rock has taken more corners than its opponents in each game, cumulatively leading, 47-9.

EDINBORO SCOUTING REPORT
The Fighting Scots enter on a two-game undefeated streak, drawing with Pitt-Johnstown, 1-1, and defeating Clarion, 1-0. On the year, Edinboro has outscored its opponents, 21-19, holding a narrow per game advantage in shots, 11.9-11.6.
 
Edinboro is led by sophomore Emily Vogel, who has 15 points on seven goals and one assist. Vogel has taken at least one shot in every game she has played this year except for one – Edinboro's 1-0 loss to Slippery Rock.
 
Scoring against Clarion in Edinboro's most recent victory was Reece Enochs, who has 10 points on four goals and two assists on the season.
 
Senior defender Jenna Jackson only has two points on one goal, but is second on the team in shots, taking 20 on the year and placing 11 on target.
