YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Slippery Rock University men's indoor track and field team recorded 23 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference qualifying marks, two NCAA provisional marks and 23 top 10 finishes over two days of competition at the YSU Mid-Major Invite that wrapped up Saturday from Youngstown State University.

The headliner of the weekend was
Bryan Dworek, who landed a career-best leap of 7.31 meters to win the long jump competition. His NCAA provisional effort currently ranks 15th among all jumpers in Division II and was just shy of one of the longest-standing records in program history as Jeff McBride's SRU record of 7.38 meters was set in 1989.

The other NCAA mark of the weekend came from
Joshua VanDeMark in the weight throw, where he took third overall with a toss of 17.98 meters, just below his season-best effort of 18.19 meters. VanDeMark was joined in the weight throw by
Brandon McCray in ninth place at 14.59 meters and
Joshua Rohland in 10th at 14.40 meters.

The Rock had seven top 10 finishes in the three throwing events, including three in the rarely contested indoor discus throw.
Seaton Wozniak led the way in fifth place with a throw of 42.63 meters.
Zach Gose followed in sixth at 41.40 meters and McCray was seventh at 33.87 meters.

Joshua Gose led the way in the shot put with a fourth place showing and a toss of 16.30 meters. Rohland was 13th at 14.51 meters and Wozniak was 15th with a PSAC mark of 14.35 meters.

The Rock got six more PSAC marks in the field events, including two each in the high jump and the triple jump.
AJ Virata took third in the high jump with a leap of 1.94 meters, while
Robert Kozares was ninth at 1.89 meters.
Ian James led the way in the triple jump with a fourth place finish and a leap of 13.75 meters.
Zack Duda followed in seventh place at 13.34 meters.

Dan Hyatt took fifth in the seeded section of the pole vault with a clearance of 4.60 meters.

Gavin Thomas picked up a PSAC mark in the long jump during the seven-event heptathlon when he recorded a leap of 6.95 meters.
Kyle Adams also had one PSAC mark during the heptathlon with his 60-meter hurdles time of 8.83 seconds. Adams led the way in the overall competition with a fourth place finish with 4,376 points. Thomas took eighth with 3,765 points.

Virata also recorded a pair of PSAC marks on the track with a ninth place finish in the 60-meter dash in 7.01 seconds and a seventh place showing in the 200-meter dash in 22.15 seconds.

Kadin Johnson improved on his season-best in the 400-meter dash with a fifth place finish in 49.82 seconds. He also hit the PSAC standard in the 200-meter dash with an 18th place finish in 22.56 seconds.

Matthew Crow and
Brenden Lewis both hit the PSAC standard in the 60-meter hurdles with Crow placing eighth in 8.41 seconds and Lewis following in 11th in 8.68 seconds.

The Rock's distance runners recorded the final four PSAC marks of the weekend with
Shannon Dooley leading the way with a sixth place showing in the 800-meter run in 1:55.03.
Devon Navaroli was 18th in the mile in 4:25.95.
Troy Hart was 15th in the 3,000-meter run in 8:49.41 and
Ethan Brentham was 18th in 8:53.02.

Dooley and Navaroli closed their weekend with a pair of relay performances. They teamed with
Ryan Corbitt and
Alex Dickson to place third in the distance medley relay in 10:19.29 then teamed with Corbitt and
Jeremy Uher to place ninth in the 4x400-meter relay in 3:29.54.

The Rock will venture away from Youngstown State for the first time this season when they visit the University of Mount Union next Saturday for the Jim Wuske Invitational.
