Jessica Giegucz's inaugural season, SRU has compiled a 33-16-8 (.578) record in PSAC matches played on the road. In those 57 matches, The Rock has outscored their competitors by an impressive +46 margin (102-56) while recording 21 shutout victories and 38 contests holding its opponents to no more than one goal.
Â
PSAC WEST RESUME
Slippery Rock has produced six winning conference records since Giegucz's inaugural season in 2015 and holds a 67-24-12 overall mark in PSAC competition.
Â
ROCK SOLID DEFENSE
As a team, The Rock are tied for fifth in the conference in goals allowed with just seven. The Slippery Rock defense has been monumental over the last 45 minutes of contests by holding its competition to just one second-half goal this year. SRU has just two games this season in which it has allowed more than one goal.
Â
Aiding in the strong defensive efforts is Yoder who is third in the conference in saves (41) as well as fourth in the PSAC in goals against average (.700) and save percentage (.854). Yoder has claimed five shutouts so far this year.
Â
OFFENSIVE ATTACK
Pacing the Slippery Rock offense is Swope with six points on two goals and two assist and Rea with five points on two goals and one assist. Following are seven players who have also tallied a goal this year in DeLucio, Munnikhuysen, Patrick,
Jaime Dermotta,
Faith Diffenbacher,
Brooke Riefenstahl and
Morgan Sarver.
Â
Rounding out the offense is Mascaro with a team-high three assists while Kosek (2) Patrick (2) and DeLucio (1) have each produced at least one assist this season as well.
Â
The Rock's offense is strong at prompting scoring opportunities as it ranks fourth in all of Division II in corner kicks with 78.
Â
CONSISTENT STARTERS
Slippery Rock has had a consistent lineup over 10 contests with six players making 10 consecutive starts in Dermotta, Diffenbacher, Patrick, Rea, Riefenstahl and Swope. Kosek, Mascaro and
Nina King have started all but one contest thus far while Munnikhuysen and Sarver have appeared in all 10 contests.Â
Â
DOUBLE DISH
Mascaro dished out a pair of assists in The Rock's 4-0 win over Clarion Wednesday. Mascaro is the first SRU player to have made two assists in one game this season as well as the first player to do so since Patrick made a pair of assists in SRU's 5-3 PSAC Tournament loss to Gannon a season Nov. 9, 2021.
Â
ROUND ROBIN
Saturdays's game begins SRU's second leg of its PSAC West schedule. Over the 2021 and 2019 seasons, Slippery Rock has been solid when entering the round robin portion of its PSAC West contests. The Rock is 11-4-2 in those two seasons through their second contest against division competition.
Â
PSAC STANDINGS CHECK
Winners of two consecutive games, SRU currently ranks tied with Indiana University (Pa.) for fifth in the PSAC West standings with 10 points. The top four teams in both the PSAC West and PSAC East standings at the conclusion of the regular season qualify for the conference tournament.
Â
Slippery Rock is only three points away from climbing into a tie for fourth in the division with Pitt-Johnstown. With eight regular season games remaining, The Rock has strong potential to position themselves for a 12th consecutive trip to the PSAC Tournament.
PROGRAM HISTORY UPDATES
Following her five-save showing against Clarion, Yoder became The Rock's all-time leader in saves with 217.
Â
Additionally, Yoder ranks third in goalie wins (35), starts by a goalie (55) and shutouts (24). She currently ranks eighth in Rock women's soccer program history in consecutive games started and with eight regular season games remaining, she is on pace to finish her collegiate career fourth all-time.
