EDINBORO, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University men's cross country team placed second at the Doug Watts Open Saturday at Edinboro University.

Hosting Edinboro ran away with the team title after sweeping the top seven spots in the race. The defending PSAC champions posted a perfect score of 15 points. Slippery Rock took second with 56 points, while Lake Erie was third with 72 points.

Ethan Brentham led Slippery Rock with an eighth place finish after covering the 8,000-meter course in 26:53.
Troy Hart (pictured above, photo courtesy of Matt Durisko) was the second SRU finisher in ninth place at 27:02 to give The Rock two athletes in the top 10.

Shannon Dooley followed in 11th place in 27:49 with the scorers being capped by
Devon Navaroli in 13th place in 27:55 and
Noah Johnson in 15th place in 28:31.

SRU's top seven was capped by a pair of true freshmen with
Michael Novak placing 16th in 28:45 and
John Juszynski finishing 18th in 28:56.

A total of 29 men from three complete teams finished the race.
Â
Slippery Rock will take next weekend off before returning to action Sept. 17 at the Allegheny Classic hosted by Allegheny College.
