LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University track and field program swept the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference's Field Athlete of the Week awards announced Tuesday with
Trinity Clark winning the women's honor and
Dalton Anderson claiming the men's award.
Â
Both Slippery Rock seniors were recognized for their winning performances in the javelin at the St. Francis Red Flash Open last weekend.
Â
Anderson, a graduate student from Grove City, Pennsylvania, won the event with a career-best and NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 66.85 meters (219' 4"). That effort moved him into first place among all PSAC throwers this spring and vaulted him up to No. 5 on the Division II leaderboard.
Â
Clark, a senior from Kane, Pennsylvania, won the javelin with an NCAA provisional mark of 47.31 meters (155' 2"). That effort is slightly below her season-best of 49.55 meters, which currently ranks No. 2 in Division II, but would still put her in the top six in the country and is more than three full meters better than any other thrower in the Atlantic Region this spring. SRU teammate
Skylar Sherry currently ranks second in the region with a mark of 44.11 meters (144' 9").
Â
Slippery Rock will split its team again this weekend and send a small group of seniors to Penn State University Friday so they can participate in Saturday's graduation ceremonies at The Rock. The rest of the team will travel to Lock Haven University Friday and Saturday for the LHU Qualifier as a final tune-up before the PSAC Championships May 12-14 at Millersville.
