Rock to compete at Westminster Invitational Saturday

Slippery Rock will send 86 total track and field student-athletes to Westminster College Saturday for the Westminster Invitational.

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University track and field teams will compete at the Westminster College Invitational Friday and Saturday.

SRU MEN'S PREVIEW
The Rock will send 36 men to compete this weekend, headlined by the foursome of Dalton Anderson, John Eakin, AJ Virata and Dan Hyatt.
 
Anderson enters the meet ranked 10th in Division II in the javelin with a throw of 63.79 meters. Eakin is 13th in the country in the shot put at 17.43 meters and Virata is 19th in the high jump at 2.05 meters. He will not compete in the high jump this weekend, but will compete in the 200-meter dash, where he ranks fifth in the PSAC at 22.28 seconds. Hyatt enters the meet ranked first in the PSAC in the pole vault with a clearance of 4.41 meters.
 
Brenden Lewis leads the way in the 110-meter hurdles and enters the weekend ranked third in the PSAC at 15.44 seconds.  
 
Joshua Gose will join Eakin in the shot put and enters the weekend ranked third in the PSAC at 15.93 meters. Joshua VanDeMark is third in the PSAC in the hammer at 53.78 meters and Dylan Close ranks third in the PSAC in the javelin at 59.43 meters.

SRU WOMEN'S PREVIEW
SRU will send 50 women to compete at Westminster this weekend, headlined by javelin throwers Trinity Clark and Skylar Sherry and high jumper Cecily Greggs, who all rank in the top 15 nationally in their events this winter.
 
Clark enters the weekend ranked No. 2 among all javelin throwers in Division II with a season-best of 49.55 meters. Sherry is currently No. 15 in Division II with a season-best of 44.11 meters. Greggs ranks sixth in the nation in the high jump with a clearance of 1.73 meters.
 
Clark also ranks third in the PSAC in the discus at 40.98 meters, one spot behind Jena Reinheimer at 42.45 meters. Reinheimer is also third in the PSAC in the hammer at 50.81 meters.
 
SRU will look to Morgan Donatelli to lead the way in the sprints this weekend as she is set to compete in the 200-meter dash, where she ranks third in the PSAC at 25.77 seconds. Rachel Veneziano enters the 400-meter hurdles ranked fifth in the PSAC at 1:05.84.
 
Kendall Grossman enters the weekend ranked third in the PSAC in the pole vault at 3.55 meters and Chaley Younkin is fifth in the high jump at 1.58 meters.
