ALLENDALE, Mich. – The Slippery Rock University indoor track and field teams recorded three Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference qualifying marks Friday at the GVSU Big Meet at Grand Valley State University.

Slippery Rock only sent five total student-athletes to Grand Valley Friday night with three men and two women competing.

Devon Navaroli led the men's squad with a career-best effort of 4:16.92 in the mile, while
Shannon Dooley followed with a career-best of his own in 4:19.74. Navaroli's effort ranks second in the PSAC this winter, while Dooley's mark ranks fifth. Both marks are PSAC automatic qualifying efforts.

The only other SRU male competing Friday was
Tucker Davis, who was making his indoor season debut. Davis clocked a time of 15:55.50 in one of the nine heats of the men's 5,000-meter run. His time currently ranks 17th in the PSAC, but missed the qualifying standard by 10.5 seconds (15:45).

On the women's side,
Marianne Abdalah posted a time of 17:42.79 in the 5,000-meter run, just over five seconds off her season-best of 17:37 that was the best in the PSAC entering the weekend.
Katie Plassio also clocked a time of 19:31.49, which was just off her season-best of 19:23.51 and a little over 30 seconds off the PSAC standard (19:00).

The rest of the Slippery Rock teams are competing in a two-day competition this weekend at Kent State University, as The Rock sent 24 men and 50 women to that meet, which will wrap up Saturday night.

Slippery Rock will travel to Edinboro next Friday for the Edinboro Last Chance Meet as a final tune-up before the PSAC Championships Feb. 26-27 at Edinboro University.
