PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University men's cross country team put three runners in the top seven and ran away with a win Saturday at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational at Schenley Park in Pittsburgh.

The Rock claimed the team title with 56 points, beating hosting Carnegie Mellon by 21 points as the Tartans finished second with 77 points. Indiana (Pa.) was third with 91 points, followed the CMU Alumni team in fourth with 128 points and California (Pa.) rounding out the top five with 141 points. A total of 12 complete teams recorded a score, while athletes from 14 teams competed in the race.

Ethan Brentham led the way for The Rock with a runner-up finish by just two seconds after covering the 8,000-meter course in 25:51. He was the first collegiate finisher in the meet as the winner was an alumnus from CMU in 25:49.

Troy Hart followed in fourth place in 25:55 and
Shannon Dooley took seventh in 25:59.
Devon Navaroli was close behind in 12th place in 26:17 and
John Juszynski rounded out the scorers in 32nd place in 27:28.

Ryan Corbitt took 36th in 27:32 and
Noah Johnson rounded out the top seven in 41st in 27:44.

A total of 120 runners finished the race.
Â
Slippery Rock will take next weekend off before returning to action Oct. 22 at its only home meet of the year with the Bill Lennox Invitational at the Lawrence Country Fairgrounds.
