LAST TIME OUT
The Rock led wire-to-wire in a 73-60 PSAC West victory over the University of Pitt-Johnstown Wednesday at Morrow Field House to extend their winning streak to three.
IRON WOMAN
Daeja Quick has proven her stamina through 12 starts this season as she leads Division II in minutes played per game (38.91), ranking nine places ahead of the next PSAC player (Emma Saxton / Bloomsburg / 37.35). Quick averages 14.7 points, a team-high 3.6 assists and 2.3 steals per game. Quick has scored at least 20 points in each of SRU's last two games.
With her 37 played minutes and three assists against Pitt-Johnstown, Quick moved past Julie Molloy (20087-10) for 19th in program history for minutes played at 2,066 and up to 15th assists passing the trio of Lexi Carpenter (2015-17), Amanda Nero (2005-09) and Jenni Morrison (1998-00) with 216.

HOME SWEET HOME
The Rock has extended their record at Morrow Field House to 5-1 matching the best six home game record since the 2017-18 season. A win against Clarion would move SRU to 6-1 at Morrow Field House, which would be the first time The Rock has suffered just one loss in their first seven home games in 25 years. The 1997-98 team also went 6-1 before finishing the year 9-3 at home.
KEEPING UP WITH JOHNSON
Jamiyah Johnson continues to lead SRU as she averages a double-double of 18.9 points and 15.8 rebounds per game to go with 1.5 steals and 1.1 blocks a night as well while shooting 58.2 percent from the field. Johnson remains the nation's leader in rebounding and double-doubles (12). In all of the NCAA, regardless of division, Johnson's career numbers rank fourth in double-doubles (56) and fifth in rebounds (1,138).
ROUNDING OUT THE LEADERS
The Rock's remaining leaders include the sister duo of
Kennedy Middleton and
Isabellah Middleton who score 9.6 and 8.8 ppg respectively. The Middleton's combine for 40 of Slippery Rock's 108 steals.
Kennedy Middleton also dishes out 2.8 apg and brings in 5.9 rpg.
Rounding out are
Anyah Curd and
Deleah Gibson. Curd tallies 8.8 ppg, a team second best of 6.4 rpg and makes 1.2 blocks per game. Gibson scores 7.6 ppg while collecting 2.2 rpg and making 1.1 spg.
FRESHMEN INVOLVEMENT
The freshman class is led by the duo of
Bella Long and
Kelley McKnight who have seen action in at least 10 games for Slippery Rock. Long has tallied 12 points on the season all coming off of 3-pointers. McKnight has scored 13 points in her 10 appearances while standing as the trusted reserve to Johnson at center.
Remaining Rock freshmen who have seen time this season include
Kaylin Venick (10 games, 11 points),
Emily Venick (8 games, 7 points) and
Hallie Raabe (2 games, 2 points).
DEFENSE WINS GAMES
The Rock has proven to play solid defense against their competitors through 12 contests. Overall Slippery Rock has held its opponents to just a 37 percent shooting average. SRU has averaged 3.25 blocks led by Johnson and Curd with 13 and 12 rejections, respectively, this season.
Slippery Rock's defensive success is also attributed to out rebounding its competitors by a +30 margin (338-308). SRU has not gone a single game in which it has tallied less than at least 23 defensive rebounds in 2021-22.
TAKING CARE OF THE ROCK
After struggling much of the season with turnovers, Slippery Rock exhibited one of its most successful games handling the ball by committing a season-low of 11 turnovers in its 66-52 victory over Pitt-Johnstown. The Rock holds a +1.3 (220-236) turnover margin over their opponents this season. In its last three games, Slippery Rock has averaged 12.6 steals.
PREVIOUSLY vs. THE GOLDEN EAGLES
Quick is the only SRU player to have played extended minutes against Clarion while sporting the Green & White. In four appearances and three starts, Quick averages 8.5 ppg, 3.7 apg, 1.0 rpg and 1.0 spg.
While at Davis & Elkins, Johnson met once with the Golden Eagles during the 2019-20 season resulting in a double-double performance of 20 points and 16 rebounds.

SCOUTING THE GOLDEN EAGLES
Last Time Out: Clarion most recently fell 75-65 in a PSAC crossover contest at home against Mansfield University Jan 2.
Clarion is led by freshman Sierra Bermudez who leads the team in a plethora of categories including points per game (17.1), field goal percentage (43.5), 3-pointers per game (2.5) and free throw percentage (78.8). Bermudez is accompanied by Cory Santoro (11.3) and Jada Smith (10.2) as Golden Eagle players to average double-digit points.
Powered by 7.4 made 3-pointers a game, the Golden Eagles average 63.7 points while their opponents score 70.1 this season.
