SCOUTING THE ROCK
- LAST TIME OUT: The Rock was able to break even with West Virginia Wesleyan, 2-2, in a 2021 home opener with Jordyn Minda scoring first for SRU and Rachel Edge evening the score with the final goal of the match.
 
-WINNING TRADITIION IN GAME TWO: Slippery Rock has only lost the second game of its season four times in program history (2016, 2011, 1997, 1993). In all, SRU is 20-4-3 in the second game of the season including a 3-1-1 mark with Jessica Giegucz as head coach.
 
- WELCOME BACK: SRU had the pleasure of returning five starters to the 2021 lineup who started every match during the 2019 season including Edge, Minda, Kayla Swope, Brooke Riefenstahl and Emma Yoder.
 
Additionally, veterans of the program Katy Ericson, Georgia Nagucki and Julia Mascaro also earned starts in the opener.
 
- FRESH FACES: Slippery Rock welcomed three new starters to the lineup against West Virginia Wesleyan as the trio of Faith Diffenbacher (freshman), Nina King (freshman) and Sydney Patrick (sophomore) all recorded their first career starts as well as first play action of their collegiate careers. Both Patrick and King earned assists in their first collegiate games.
 
- COMEBACK QUEENS: Although The Rock went down 2-0 in the first half of the match against The Bobcats, they were able to showcase their resiliency and speed coming back to even the score 2-2 before the end of regulation and held them scoreless during both overtime periods to end in a tie.
 
- SHOOTING FOR THE STARS: The Rock was not shy at all about putting a boot on the ball during their battle against The Bobcats. Slippery Rock acquired a sizable lead in total shots (22-6), shots on goal (11-4) and corners (12-2). Multiple SRU player were involved in taking shots including Edge (4 total, 1 on goal), Minda (4 total, 3 on goal), Patrick (3 total) and the grouping of Ericson, Mascaro, Riefenstahl, Swope and Reagan Reeves all taking two shots and Nagucki tallying one as well.
 
- EDGE CLIMBING THE RECORD BOOKS: With her goal against West Virginia Wesleyan, Edge moved into a three-way time Kara Mullins (2010-12) and Annette Berg (1999) for 18th place on The Rock's career goal ledger. 
 
- OPENERS: The draw against West Virginia Wesleyan marks the first time in program history the SRU has opened the season with a tie and only the sixth tie result The Rock has had while under the leadership of Giegucz.

SCOUTING THE FALCONS
Fairmont welcomed head coach Borneo in June for his first season leading the squad. He looks to make a positive impact heading into The Falcons season opener against SRU. Fairmont was picked to finish third in the MEC North in the preseason poll. FSU ended a short 2020 season 5-1-4 overall and seeing action in the second round of the MEC Tournament.
 
FSU features an offense lead by Kiera Kuzinski (11 points, 5 goals, 1 assist), Emma Delk (6 points, 3 goals,) and key facilitator Ari Christiansen (5 points, 1 goal, 3 assists). The Falcons recorded 1.20 goals per game while taking 124 shots with 72 being on target during the 2020 season.
 
Defensively Fairmont features Taylor Kennedy who recorded 50 saves holding a .892 save percentage as well as a .55 goals against average a year ago. She has produced six shutouts and played the full duration of all 10 games.
