LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University men's cross country team took fourth place at the Lock Haven Invite Saturday at the West Branch Cross Country Course at Lock Haven University.

The Rock's five scorers were separated by just 15 seconds in a tight pack, leading SRU to a fourth place showing in a field of 20 complete teams and 289 runners in what was the largest competition for SRU this season.

The top ranked team in the Atlantic Region, Charleston, put all five of its scorers in the top 10 to run away with the team title with 28 points. Walsh University had five runners in the top 19 to place second with 49 points and Edinboro put five men in the 15 to place third with 55 points. Slippery Rock was fourth with 151 points, followed by West Liberty rounding out the top five with 163 points.

The Rock entered the meet ranked ninth in the Atlantic Region, but will likely move up after defeating third ranked West Liberty, sixth ranked Davis & Elkins and seventh ranked Lock Haven head-to-head Saturday. West Liberty was just behind SRU by 12 points in fifth place, while Lock Haven placed eighth with 231 points and Davis & Elkins was 10th with 245 points.

Ethan Brentham led SRU with a 28th place finish after covering the 8,000-meter course in 25:58.
Shannon Dooley followed one spot back in 29th in 26:00.

Devon Navaroli was the third SRU finisher in 31st in 26:02, while
Benjamin Buckless took 35th in 26:05 and
Troy Hart was 42nd in 26:13 to cap the scorers with a gap of just 15 seconds.

Tucker Davis was 107th in 27:30 and
Nathan Eadie was 109th in 27:30 to round out the top seven finishers for SRU.
Slippery Rock will take next weekend off before returning to action Oct. 9 for its only home race of the season at the Bill Lennox Invite at the Lawrence County Fairgrounds.
