SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University men's track and field team recorded eight runner-up placings and 15 top five finishes at the Dave Labor Invitational hosted Saturday at Slippery Rock's William Lennox Track.

Saturday's meet marked the first of three home meets for Slippery Rock this spring and marked the first home competition for the track and field teams since the spring of 2019. Student-athletes that represented 15 different colleges at the NCAA Division I, Division II and Division III level, along with the NAIA and USCAA were in attendance.

The Rock's throwers recorded five top five finishes and placed one athlete in the top four of all four throwing disciplines.
John Eakin took runner-up honors in the shot put with a personal best mark of 15.89 meters.
Eric Schulz followed in fifth place with a throw of 14.44 meters.
Ryan Ferner finished third in the discus with his throw of 43.17 meters in the discus.
Alec Morris (pictured above) led the way in the hammer with a personal best of 53.13 meters to place fourth and
Dylan Close took second in the javelin with a toss of 56.03 meters.

The Rock got three runner-up finishes on the track, led by
Bryan Dworek taking second in the 100-meter dash with a collegiate best of 10.82 seconds.
Gunner Coleman finished second in the 400-meter hurdles in 57.92 seconds and
Nathan Eadie was second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 10:36.15.

Dworek also finished second in the long jump with a leap of 7.10 meters.
Zack Duda and
Daron Cooper both earned top five finishes in the triple jump to give The Rock three top five showings in the horizontal jumps. Duda placed third with a leap of 13.39 meters, while Cooper was fourth at 12.18 meters.

Dan Hyatt and
Ryan McQuown rounded out the top five efforts in the field with their performances in the pole vault. Hyatt took second with a clearance of 4.36 meters, while McQuown was fifth with a mark of 3.91 meters.

Jason Goodman led the way in the 110-meter hurdles with a fifth place finish in 15.80 seconds and then led off the fourth place 4x400-meter relay team, where he joined with Coleman, McQuown and
Gavin Thomas to post a time of 3:30.09 to cap the top five efforts on the day.

Slippery Rock will travel to Indiana (Pa.) to compete next Sunday before returning home for each of the following two weeks with home meets scheduled for April 15-16 and April 22.
