Lock Haven Results
PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University men's track and field team recorded seven event wins and 21 top five finishes at a pair of meets Saturday to kick off the 2021 outdoor season.

The majority of The Rock's team competed at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, while a select group of distance runners traveled to Lock Haven University.

Slippery Rock was led on the day by sprinter
Bryan Dworek, who picked up a pair of wins and a runner-up finish at CMU. Dworek won the 200-meter dash in 22.07 seconds and the long jump with a leap of 7.18 meters, while also placing second in the 100-meter dash in 10.91 seconds.

The Rock won a total of five field events at CMU Saturday, including three jumping events and two throws.

Jason Goodman took the top honors in the high jump after edging out teammate
Robert Kozares in a jump-off after both SRU men cleared 1.90 meters.
Dan Hyatt gave The Rock a sweep in the vertical jumps when he won the pole vault with a mark of 4.40 meters.

Goodman also took runner-up honors in the 110-meter hurdles in 15.95 seconds, topping teammate
Brenden Lewis in third place in 16.05 seconds.

Alec Morris led a top three sweep by Slippery Rock in the hammer throw after easily winning the contest with a throw of 50.51 meters.
Brandon McCray was second at 45.26 meters and
Ryan Ferner placed third at 44.87 meters.

The final event win at CMU came in the javelin, where
Dylan Close won the competition with a throw of 51.46 meters.

The Rock throwers also placed three men in the top five in the discus and two in the top five of the shot put.
Eric Schulz led the way in both events with a third place showing in the discus (43.01m) and a fourth place finish in the shot put (14.17m).
Brennan McTighe followed in both disciplines with a fourth place finish in the discus (42.06m) and a fifth place showing in the shot put (12.94m). Ferner rounded out the top five in the discus in fifth place (41.75m).

The final top five finish at CMU belonged to
Zack Duda, who took fourth in the triple jump with a leap of 13.30 meters.

Slippery Rock added to its win total on the day in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at Lock Haven, where
Benjamin Buckless topped the field in 9:59.10. Teammate
Nathan Eadie was second in 10:38.10.

The top performance of the day at Lock Haven came from
Shannon Dooley, who placed second in the 1,500-meter run in 4:02.63 to cap the top five showings from the SRU men Saturday.
Â
The return to competition this weekend marked the first time Slippery Rock has competed in the sport of outdoor track and field since May of 2019 after the entire 2020 season was canceled.
Â
The Rock will be back in action next Saturday when they host the first of three home meets this spring, the Dave Labor Invitational.
