EDINBORO, Pa. –
Jason Goodman won the heptathlon with an NCAA provisional qualifying score to lead The Rock men's and women's indoor track and field teams at the Mike Kowal Multi Meet at Edinboro University that wrapped up Sunday.

Slippery Rock sent just eight total athletes to Edinboro this weekend with the majority of the team competing Friday evening at Youngstown State.

Goodman won the seven-event heptathlon with an NCAA provisional score of 4,967 points, which currently ranks as the ninth best score among all NCAA Division II athletes this winter. On top of posting the NCAA mark for the overall score, Goodman recorded three PSAC qualifying marks in individual events. He cleared 4.25 meters in the pole vault, 1.88 meters in the high jump and ran 8.74 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles.

Dalton Anderson took second behind Goodman with 4,539 points in his first competition at SRU. Anderson also cleared a PSAC qualifying mark of 1.88 meters in the high jump.

Cameron Cowder took fifth in his first competition at SRU with a score of 3,931 points and
Gavin Thomas finished seventh with 3,764 points. Thomas also hit a PSAC mark in the long jump with a leap of 6.72 meters.

On the women's side,
Dani MacBeth led The Rock with a sixth place finish in the pentathlon with 2,727 points.
Lorna Speigle was ninth with 2,397 points,
Alison Lamoreaux was 10th with 2,362 points and
Emily Opfer was 11th with 2,213 points.

This weekend's competition marked the only meets of the 2021 calendar year for Slippery Rock, which will break now for finals and the holidays before returning to action Jan. 15 at Edinboro.
