SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Slippery Rock University women's soccer standouts Nina King, Rachel Edge and Jordyn Minda were named to the 2021 Division II Conference Commissioners Association All-Atlantic Region Team, the organization announced Tuesday.

The senior duo of Edge and Minda both earned first team all-region recognition while King, who is just a freshman, received second team honors.

The D2CCA all-region teams are voted on by sports information directors in the respective regions. As first team honorees, Edge and Minda now advance to the national ballot for All-America consideration. The D2CCA All-American Team will be unveiled on Dec. 7. SRU's last All-American was Dara Demich in 2015.

Edge, who earned first team all-region accolades in 2019, was one of the top offensive threats in the region this season. Over 19 games played, the first team All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Wester Division selection totaled 33 points on 13 goals and seven assists with five game-winning scores.

In addition to leading the PSAC in points, goals and assists, Edge ranked third in the region in total points and second in goals scored. Edge leaves The Rock slotted fourth on the program's career point ledger (80) while also ranking fifth in all-time assists (22) sixth in total goals (29).

Minda garnered the third all-region honor of her career, she was a first team choice in 2019 and a second team honoree in 2018, after a senior campaign in which she started all 19 games while compiling 21 points on eight goals and five assists to go with two game-winning goals. Her performance in 2021 also led to Minda being named a first team All-PSAC West honoree.

Minda, who ranks 11th in program history in career goals with 23 and 16th in points at 58, started 60 consecutive games over her collegiate career – the fourth most by a Rock soccer player all-time. She is the sixth player in program history to be named an all-region athlete in three different years, joining past Rock legends Sonya Maher (1996-99), Sarah Arsenault (2001, 2003-04), Meghan McGrath (2003, 2005-07), Alison Hindley (2008-10) and Emer Flatley (2010-12).

King picked up her first all-region award on the heels of a breakout rookie campaign in which she was one of five Rock players to start all 19 games. She helped to anchor a defense that only allowed 14 goals during the regular season while also chipping in two assists offensively. King was the only freshman to receive first team All-PSAC West accolades and one of just four rookies to appear on the D2CCA All-Atlantic Region Team.

The trio helped to lead Slippery Rock to a 12-4-3 overall record and an 11-3-2 PSAC mark in 2021. SRU advanced to the quarterfinals of the PSAC Tournament and narrowly missed earning an at-large berth into the NCAA Tournament.

SRU has established itself as one of the top programs in all of NCAA Division ll with 25 consecutive winning seasons. The streak is the seventh longest in NCAA history. Slippery Rock has won at least 10 games in a season for 23 straight years while also making eight NCAA Tournament appearances in the last 13 seasons.

The D2CCA encourages and promotes Division II athletics and high standards of sportsmanship as important elements of higher education.
