Slippery Rock has started the 2021-22 season with a 2-1 record. The Rock has not begun with a winning record through their first three games since the 2016-17 season when they also went 2-1. A win over Malone would mark the first season in which SRU started 3-1 since 2016-17 season as well.

The Rock's offense features four players who have average at least 10 points through three games in

Johnson leads the team in scoring average with 19.7 ppg while shooting a team-high of 76.5 percent from the foul line and 71.9 percent from the field. Quick tallies 15.7 ppg with a total of 47 points while being the team's lead facilitator with 15 assists as well as making eight steals.

Gibson averages 11.7 points per game with a total of 35 points. She leads the team from long range at 38.9 percent.
Kennedy Middleton shoots 10.3 ppg.

MAKE WAY FOR JOHNSON
Jamiyah Johnson is currently on a double-double streak having earned three consecutively including 19 points and 16 rebounds against Notre Dame as well as 14 points and 13 rebounds at West Virginia State and most recently her stellar 26-point, 19-rebound performance over Ursuline.

Johnson's 26 points is the highest scoring total involved in a double-double since 2019-20 when Madison Johnson (2017-20) tallied 28 points and 10 rebounds at Salem. More impressively Johnson's rebound total is the highest since the 2003-04 season when Stacy Green (2001-04) had 13 points and 20 rebounds at Edinboro.

With her 19 rebounds over Ursuline Johnson now ranks 7th in SRU program history for the single-game high in rebounds. While tying Diane Walker (1984-85) for third most rebounds collected at Morrow Field House in a single-game.

ATTACKING THE BOARDS
Slippery Rock, the PSAC leader in defensive rebounding, has put up stellar numbers when battling for the boards. As a team, Slippery Rock entered the weekend leading in defensive rebounding averaging 30.7 per game with a +12.0 margin over its opponents. SRU has capitalized off of offensive boards with 43 second chance points.

STRONG THIRD QUARTER SHOWING
The Rock has shown to score most efficiently in the third period through three games. Overall SRU has outscored its opponents 67-37 in the third alone. This has included a +10 margin over NDC, +15 over West Virginia State and +5 over Ursuline.

Slippery Rock has also been able to produce strong runs out of the third quarter having gone on a 6-0 run against Notre Dame, 10-0 over WVSU and 11-0 against Ursuline.

SCOUTING THE PIONEERS
Malone has gotten off to a solid 3-0 start to the 2021-22 season with wins over Indianapolis (79-64), Lindenwood (88-69) and Wheeling (70-38).

The Pioneers have shot 52.5 percent from the field overall, 35.6 percent from 3-point range and 70.0 percent from the foul line scoring 79.0 ppg. Malone has grabbed 30.7 rpg while dishing out 14.0 apg.

The Pioneer offense is led by Holly Groff who alone has accounted for a quarter of the team's points tallying 20.0 ppg while going 7-of-17 from long range and a perfect 9-of-9 from the charity stripe. Malone players who average double digits are rounded out by Robin Campbell with 14.0 ppg and Alexis Hutchison collecting 11.3 ppg.
