LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - Slippery Rock University women's basketball team senior guard
Daeja Quick was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Defensive Athlete of the Week, the league office announced Monday.

Quick earned the honor after helping SRU open the 2021-22 season 1-1 with an 84-66 victory over Notre Dame College and an 84-71 loss to West Virginia State University at the Earl Lloyd Classic in Institute, West Virginia.

Quick tallied six steals through two games. She grabbed a PSAC game-high four steals against Notre Dame College while also posting one block. Against West Virginia State, Quick collected two steals, helping to prompt the Yellow Jackets into 19 total turnovers.

The Rock's point guard also played a pivotal role in The Rock's offensive attack over the weekend, averaging 14.5 points per game while shooting 12-of-23 from the floor and distributing 4.5 assists per game.

Cal U's Ciara Loyd was named the PSAC West's Athlete of the Week, narrowly edging out
Jamiyah Johnson, who averaged a double-double of 16.5 points and 14.5 rebounds per game in her first two games at The Rock.

Slippery Rock makes its home debut against Ursuline College 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at Morrow Field House.
