The Slippery Rock women’s soccer team looks for its fourth consecutive win when it hosts Gannon for a PSAC West matchup at James Egli Field 1 p.m. Wednesday.

SLIPPERY ROCK Pa. - The Slippery Rock University women's soccer team looks for its fourth consecutive win when it hosts Gannon University for a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division matchup at James Egli Field 1 p.m. Wednesday.

The Rock shutout Gannon, 4-0, at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium Nov. 9, 2019. Kaitlyn Barackman recoded a hat trick while Rachel Edge collected SRU's fourth and final goal of the game.

SCOUTING THE ROCK
LAST TIME OUT: The Rock collected their third consecutive win in a 4-1 result, at home, over PSAC West member Edinboro University Sept. 29. Slippery Rock goal scorers included Julia Mascaro, Georgia Nagucki, Sydney Patrick, and Ashley Rea. Edge also dished out a pair of assists.
 
ROCK RETURNS TO NATIONAL POLL: SRU worked itself into the United Soccer Coaches Division II national rankings at No. 23 in the latest poll released by the national coaches organization. The ranking marks its return to the national poll for the first time since the 2018 season when The Rock was ranked No. 19 for a week.
 
SQUEAKY CLEAN SECOND HALVES: Slippery Rock is yet to allow a goal in the second half of games this season. Conversely, The Rock's offense has been at their best in the final 45 minutes with 17 of their 25 goals in 2021 occurring in second half.
 
NO PLACE LIKE HOME: Since the reign of Giegucz began in 2015, SRU has recorded a 28-11-2 (.682) record at Egli Field, along with outscoring opponents 101-37 with 15 matches being shutouts.
 
CONSISTENCY IS KEY: Through nine matches, SRU as a team has scored at least two goals in seven contests. Edge alone has scored goals in six of those matches.
 
ON THE OFFENSE: Leading the way for SRU's offensive attack are Edge and Kayla Swope. Edge continues to lead the PSAC in goals (7) and points (17). Edge also holds spots in the SRU career ranking at sixth in assists (20), eighth in points (66) and 10th in goals (23).
 
Swope has produced 13 points on four goals and five assists. She begins the week tied for the PSAC lead in assists while also ranking third in points and sixth in goals. For her career, Swope holds the 14th spot in program history for career assists (14).
 
Rounding out SRU's goal scorers this year are Nagucki (4) followed by Jordyn Minda (3), Sydney Patrick (2) and Rea (2) with three other Rock athletes with one goal each including Julia Macarao, Faith Diffenbacher and Olivia Yoder. Patrick and Mascaro also have two assists apiece.
 
SHES A KEEPER: Emma Yoder remains among the leaders in the PSAC, currently sitting third in goals against average (0.651). In nine starts she has tallied 24 saves with a .800 save percentage.
 
Yoder continues to climb up The Rock's record book as well. Wednesday's match will be her 36th career start, tying her with Lauren McManus (2006-09) for the third most starts by a goalkeeper at The Rock. Yoder also ranks fourth in wins (27), fourth in shutouts (15) and seventh in saves (136).
 
T-E-A-M: SRU stands tall at the top of the PSAC in total points (70), goals (25), assists (20), scoring average (2.778) and margin of victory (2.11). 
 
IN THE NCAA RANKINGS: On the national level, Edge ranks 12th in total points and 18th in total goals. Nationally, Swope and Edge both rank 12th in total assists with five. As a team, The Rock lands 13th in total assists and 14th in goals and points.
 
AGAINST GANNON: In previous meetings with Gannon a trio of players have found success. Swope has netted a goal and dished out a pair of assists while Minda and Edge have both scored a goal on the Golden Knights. Yoder has earned two wins over Gannon, making 12 saves and allowing no goals.

Gannon is led offensively by Taylor Lewis (5 goals), Kayla Bevacqua (2 goals, 2 assists) and Gabby Boden (2 goals, 1 assist). Lewis has accounted for almost half of the Golden Knights' 12 total goals.
 
In five starts, Golden Knight goalkeeper Kennedy Solymosi has made 21 saves with a .808 save percentage and a 0.92 GAA.
