The Slippery Rock women’s soccer team looks to clinch a spot in the PSAC Tournament in its match against Cal U (Pa.) 1 p.m. Wednesday at James Egli Field.

SLIPPERY ROCK Pa. – The Slippery Rock University women's soccer team looks to clinch a spot in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Tournament in its match against California University (Pa.) 1 p.m. Wednesday at James Egli Field.

LAST MEETING
SRU and Cal U met earlier this season on Sept. 25 resulting in a, 3-0, Rock victory with Georgia Nagucki scoring two goals and Jordyn Minda tallying a score of her own.

Slippery Rock leads the all-time series over the Vulcans 29-10-2. The Rock has won seven consecutive meetings between the two teams, including five straight shutouts with a victory margin of at least three goals.

SCOUTING THE ROCK
LAST TIME OUT: Slippery Rock shutout PSAC West rival Indiana University (Pa.), 2-0, at home Oct. 23 on Senior Day at James Egli Field.
 
PSAC PLAYOFFS ON HORIZON: With three regular season matches remaining, its win over IUP kept Slippery Rock (28) one point behind PSAC West leader Gannon University (29) in the conference standings while maintaining a three-point lead over third place Mercyhurst (25) and extending a seven-point lead over fourth-place Edinboro University (21).
 
A victory over the Vulcans will secure a spot in the PSAC Tournament regardless of what any other team in the conference does Wednesday.
 
The top four teams in the PSAC West and PSAC East standings at the conclusion of the regular season qualify for the conference tournament. Slippery Rock has qualified for the PSAC Tournament in each of the last 10 seasons and 17 of the last 20 years dating back to the 2000 season.  
 
HOMESTAND: Through seven home matches, The Rock has outscored their opponents by a healthy 23-6 margin. Of its six home wins this season five were by two or more goals.
 
Since the first season under head coach Jessica Giegucz in 2015, Slippery Rock has held a 35-13-2 record when playing at home.
 
EDGING FORWARD: Rachel Edge continues her stellar senior campaign by making her mark not only in the conference but in SRU history. Edge currently leads the PSAC in points (26) and goals (10) and lands second in assists (6).
 
With her goal against IUP, Edge moved to sixth in The Rock's record book for career points (73) and seventh in goals (26), while remaining sixth in assists (21).
 
MINDA MAKING MOVES: Minda has started 56 consecutive matches in her time at The Rock. With a start against Cal she will have moved into sixth place in the SRU record book for consecutive games started in a career. She can potentially end her career tied fourth at the end of the regular season with 59 total starts.
 
TOTAL OFFENSE: The Rock's offense this season consists of 10 different players who have scored at least one goal through 15 matches in Edge (10), Kayla Swope (6), Minda (5), Nagucki (5), Sydney Patrick (4), Megan Sikora (2), Ashley Rea (2), Faith Diffenbacher (1), Julia Mascaro (1) and Olivia Yoder (1).
 
Along with goal scorers are a group of 11 players who have had a hand in setting up a goal with at least one assist: Edge (6), Swope (5), Patrick (3), Mascaro (3), Minda (3), Nagucki (2), Katy Ericson (2), Nina King (2) Sikora (2) and Emily Arnold, Reagan Reeves both with one each.
 
ROCK SOLID DEFENSE: SRU's defense is led by goalkeeper Emma Yoder who on the season has made 43 saves to go along with a .768 save percentage and a 0.84 goals against average. She currently ranks second in the PSAC West in GAA and second overall in the PSAC in shutouts (6).
 
In the SRU career record book, Yoder sits fourth in shutouts (17) while improving to sixth in saves (155) and holding third place in wins (30).
 
FIRST STARTS IN THE BOOK: A pair of Rock players in Sikora and Maddie DeLucio earned their first career starts last match against IUP while Kylee Kosek earned her first career start against Seton Hill.
 
IN THE NCAA: As a team, SRU ranks 16th in Division II in assists (29) while landing 18th in goals (37) and 20th in points (103).
 
SRU CAREER BOOKS: Edge and Yoder are accompanied by two other Rock players that continue to improve their positions in The Rock's record book as Minda ranks sixth in game-winning goals (9), 15th in goals (20) and 19th in points (49). Rounding out the active all-time leaders is Swope who claims the 18th spot in assists (14).
 
AGAINST CAL U: In previous meetings with the Vulcans, Edge has collected four goals, three of which came from a hat trick a season ago. Swope has tallied a goal and pair of assists along with Nagucki who has two goals and Minda with a goal and assist. The scoring efforts against Cal U are rounded out by and Arnold, Mascaro and Brooke Riefenstahl who all have produced an assist. Yoder has three wins over California and has made seven saves.

Cal U is led on offense by Juliana Cruz with 10 points on four goals and two assists. She is accompanied by Ashley Venezia with three goals and Lindsie Galbreath who has two goals and two assists.
 
The Vulcan defense is backed by Emily Ouiment who has collected a PSAC leading 96 saves with a .793 save percentage and a 2.01 GAA.
