Q: What was your first job growing up?
A: Waitressing! And I absolutely loved it!
Q: When did you know you wanted to go into a career in collegiate athletics?
A: I grew up in a soccer family. My father was a collegiate coach and I have seven uncles who know the game well, many of them played in college, and one also became a college coach. When I graduated from college after playing my whole life, I walked far away from soccer and it somehow quickly came back to find me. I coached some club teams, created my own small business doing youth soccer trainings, and eventually was given an opportunity to become the assistant at Shippensburg University. After four years at a competitive level and creating relationships with players by mentoring and helping them grow, I knew it was meant for me.
Q: What was the last book you read? Thoughts on it?
A: I’m not a big reader but I do love doing crosswords and have some really random knowledge because of it.
Q: What’s your all-time favorite movie? You can give us a few if you can’t pick just one.
A: I don’t know if it’s my favorite but “My Cousin Vinny” has me in tears laughing every time. Other than that, I just enjoy mindless, funny movies.
Q: How do you relax?
A: I love cooking and it actually relaxes me. I look forward to preparing recipes and trying new ones and just hanging out in my kitchen. One of my favorite current meals is called moqueca, a Brazilian shrimp stew with a little kick.
Q: What was your first car? What’s your dream car?
A: A 1993 Saab 900 series that was manual was my first car. I’ve always owned Saabs until last year. My dream car is a classic Jeep Wrangler, manual, that I can just kick around in.
Q: What artists and/or songs on your current most-listened to playlist?
A: I’m in a country phase and I really like Morgan Wallen and Luke Combs.
Q: What’s the best advice you ever received and who did it come from?
A: I learned a lot about my integrity and being a strong female from my college coach. She has a big influence on why I’m doing what I’m doing today and hopefully I’m influencing my players like she was able to influence me. She challenged and encouraged me to be myself and had a lot of quirky sayings that stick with me as I continue to grow as a coach and a woman.
