LEXINGTON, Ky. – For a fifth consecutive season, the Slippery Rock University women's volleyball team was selected as a recipient of the United State Marine Corps (USMC) / American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award based on the squad's outstanding cumulative GPA during the 2019-20 academic year.

Slippery Rock ranks fifth in the Atlantic Region and 39th in Division II overall, out of 263 schools, in all-time USMC/AVCA Team Academic Awards with 10.

Slippery Rock concluded 2019-20 with a team GPA of 3.433. 15 SRU volleyball student-athletes maintained a GPA of at least 3.25 last year including Danielle Bywalski, Cacey Cook, Lauren Crytzer, Kaley Fucci, Stephanie Jacobsen, Erinn Kahoe, Abigail Koeller, Abigail Nigon, Stephanie O'Donnell, Shannon Ream, Zoe Rivet, Sophie Varndell, Lauren Weber, Logan Whitaker and Jalyn Willard.
