VonderHaar earns All-PSAC West recognition

Slippery Rock senior middle blocker Lauren VonderHaar was named to the 2025 All-PSAC West Team, the league office announced Thursday with the unveiling of its annual volleyball postseason awards.

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - Slippery Rock University volleyball standout Lauren VonderHaar was named to the 2025 All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division Team, the league office announced Thursday with the unveiling of its annual volleyball postseason awards.

VonderHaar, a senior middle blocker from Aurora, Ohio, earned second team All-PSAC West accolades. Thursday's announcement marks the first all-conference honor of VonderHaar's career. She is also the first middle blocker from The Rock since Shayla Ray in 2018 to make the All-PSAC West Team.

The 2025 season was the culmination of a brilliant four-year career for VonderHaar. In addition to compiling 136 blocks (43 solo / 93 assisted), VonderHaar was also a force on the attack with 204 kills via a .261 hitting percentage all the while serving 14 aces. She registered career-highs in total blocks, solo blocks, kills and aces.

One of the top middle hitters in not only the PSAC, but all of Division II, VonderHaar ended her final collegiate season ranked 10th in the nation in total blocks and 15th in blocks per set (1.28). No other athlete in the PSAC West averaged more blocks per set than VonderHaar and only one – California's Lindsey Scammell – closed the regular season with more total blocks.

VonderHaar leaves Slippery Rock as the program's all-time leader in career blocks with 394. She also has produced three of the top eight single-season block totals in program history. Her 136 rejections this season was third-highest single-season total at SRU while her 122 blocks in 2024 ranked sixth and her 118 in 2023 is tied for eighth.

Elsewhere in the division, Gannon's Bengisu Arslan was voted the PSAC West Athlete of the Year, Haley Fledderjohann of Clarion earned Defensive Athlete of the Year honors and Olivia Weiseman from California (Pa.) was tabbed the league's Freshman of the Year. Matt Darling of Gannon earned his seventh PSAC West Coach of the Year honor.

Slippery Rock recently concluded its season with a 10-17 overall record and a 3-11 mark inside the PSAC West.
