Rock ends year with win at Edinboro

Behind outstanding performances from seniors Callie Chevalier (20 kills, 10 digs), Lauren VonderHaar (12 blocks) and Jaeden Yost (23 assists, 5 aces), the Slippery Rock volleyball team closed the 2025 season with a four-set win Saturday over Edinboro.

EDINBORO, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University volleyball team closed its 2025 season on a high note Saturday courtesy of a four-set (25-18, 25-16, 26-28, 25-23) Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division road victory at Edinboro.

The win pushes The Rock's 2025 final record to 10-17 overall and 3-11 in league matches. Edinboro, which was eliminated from PSAC Tournament contention with the loss, closes its year with at 10-15 overall and a 5-9 inside the PSAC West.

As they have done so many times over the duration of their collegiate careers, Slippery Rock was led in the win by seniors Callie Chevalier, Lauren VonderHaar and Jaeden Yost.

Chevalier registered a career-high 20 kills on a .333 attack percentage to go with 10 digs and two blocks for a double-double. VonderHaar compiled 12 total blocks (2 solo / 10 assisted) along with seven kills and one ace while Yost distributed a team-best 23 assists in addition to matching a personal-best with five aces.

With their careers now concluded, VonderHaar will exit SRU as the program's career leader in blocks. Chevalier ranks 12th on The Rock's career kills ledger and is just the second Rock athlete in the last nine years to total 300 kills in a season. Yost leaves The Rock ranked seventh in both career assists and aces.

Helping The Rock to their eighth-highest kill output of the season behind Chevalier and VonderHaar was Ava Haynes (8) and Victoria Nalbach (7). Slippery Rock's .259 attack percentage was a team season-best.

The highlight of the night for Slippery Rock came by way of its defense, which was credited with 22 total blocks. The lofty rejection total is the most in a single-match by a Rock team since at least 2002 (as far back as single-match data can be traced by SRU).

Joining VonderHaar with multiple blocks were Nalbach (9), Emry Rumbaugh (7), Hayden Deming (5) and Haynes (4).

When Edinboro did get an attack past The Rock's formattable front line, it was libero Kara Pasquale leading four athletes with double-digit dig totals at 24. SRU's setting duo of Yost and Paityn Krause each came away with 11 digs as part of matching double-double showings with Chevalier also joining the group by way of her aforementioned 10 digs.

SRU held team advantages over Edinboro in attack percentage (.259-.093), total blocks (22-4), and digs (75-72). The Fighting Scots bettered The Rock in kills (56-51) and aces (9-7). Edinboro was led by Reilly Parent's 19 kills.

Slippery Rock now turns its attention to the offseason. 18 of its 22-athlete 2025 roster were non-seniors with remaining athletic eligibility.
