#SRUSeniorDay Celebration: Rock Softball

Throughout the month of April, Slippery Rock will celebrate the seniors on each of its spring teams that did not have the chance to have their traditional Senior Day celebrations. This first feature of the month focuses on The Rock softball team and its lone senior, Alexa Gugliemlino.

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- The Slippery Rock University athletic department would like to recognize senior softball player Alexa Guglielmino in the first of multiple #SRUSeniorDay features this spring that will celebrate The Rock's spring senior student-athletes.

ABOUT #SRUSeniorDay
Throughout the month of April, the Slippery Rock athletic communication office will be recognizing The Rock's senior student-athletes online as a way to celebrate the seniors that did not get to have their traditional Senior Day celebrations this spring.

Each weekday throughout the month, a few seniors will be profiled on Twitter (@Rock_Athletics) with graphics, photos and quotes from the student-athlete about their time at SRU.

Once each senior from each respective spring team has been profiled on Twitter, we'll create a page like this one for each team that includes all of the graphics and complete responses to a number of questions about the student-athletes' experiences at SRU.

Follow along with the hashtag #SRUSeniorDay on our Twitter page and come back to the web weekly to check for more features on the SRU spring seniors.

This first one will be a bit shorter than all the others, as The Rock softball team had just one senior this spring.

IN HER OWN WORDS
• One word you would use to describe your experience at Slippery Rock?
A: Unforgettable

• What is/are your favorite Memory/Memories from your time at SRU?
A: Game day bus rides with the team; spring training trips to Florida each season, especially this past trip flying down to Florida for the first time; Late night work/study sessions at Starbucks on campus (S/O to women's lacrosse for being amazing study buddies); My amazing campaigns team for our capstone class with Dr. Peiritsch.

• Most memorable game/event from your SRU career?
A: Sophomore year, my first home run in South Carolina and hitting back-to-back homers with my outtie for life, Emily Nagle.

• When will you graduate? What will your degree be in?
A: I will graduate in May 2020 with a Bachelor of Science in Communication with a concentration in Public Relations.

• Will you be attending graduate school? If so, do you know where and what major?
A: My plan is to attend graduate school at Slippery Rock for the next two years. I would like to get my master's in Student Affairs in Higher Education. I am so blessed to be given this opportunity to further my education and better my future.

• Do you plan to use the extra year of eligibility granted by the NCAA?
A: Yes, I plan on playing for The Rock next year... still hungry for more!

• Favorite class and/or professor at SRU?
A: ALL of my professors are amazing in my department, so it's too hard to pick just one. But, my favorite class was Advertising Production with Dr. Artman. We were a very close class from the start with lots of laughter and lots of tears, but mostly laughter! I will always be thankful for the memories created in that class. Dr. A, thank you for allowing our creativity to blossom, which allowed us to grow as individuals. I learned so many valuable lessons that I will cherish forever.

• What would you say to high school student-athletes thinking about coming to Slippery Rock?
A: Choosing to come to Slippery Rock was the best decision I've ever made. The Rock provides so many opportunities to students and the faculty truly cares for each person on this campus. Even being eight hours away from home made no difference because I felt right at home here at The Rock. From day one in the dorms to my last couple months as a senior, I can truly say I created many amazing memories that will last a lifetime.

• Any message you want to share with your teammates that are coming back next year?
A: Guys, we're not done yet! This year was one for the books, but 2021 is our year. Let's continue the close bond we have and always remember what we went through as a team. Let this past year drive our will to come out on top. Let's continue to work towards our goal as ONE like we always do.

• Anything else you want to share with Rock Nation?
A: Thank you, Rock Nation, for welcoming this New Englander with open arms and making my time as a student-athlete unforgettable. I am blessed to have worn #10 for four years and to have represented the name on the front of the jersey with teammates I will never forget. This may not have been my ideal senior year, but stay tuned, there's more to come!
