“We gave it absolutely everything,” Turner told Everton TV after the game. “We’ll try to use this experience to fuel us to come back here to Wembley. I’m so proud of all the players and the staff.”
The FA Cup Final marked just the second loss this season for the Everton Women, who also dropped a 3-1 decision to Man City in the Women’s Continental League Cup in early October. Outside of those two games, Turner and her squad have posted a 6-0-1 record since the beginning of September and currently sit second in the FA Women’s Super League standings with 13 points (4-0-1), just two points shy of Arsenal.
The Blues will jump back into action in the Continental League Cup Wednesday with a home match against Manchester United and will return to FA Super League action Sunday with a trip to Chelsea FC.
Turner played just one season at Slippery Rock before returning to England to begin her professional career. At The Rock, she was named to All-Region honors as a forward after tallying 16 points and helping SRU to a 14-3-5 record and a trip to the second round of the NCAA Division II Tournament in 2010. She was named to the Everton Women’s first team in 2014 and was given the captaincy of the squad in 2017. Turner is signed by Everton through the 2022 season.
