THE ROCK NOTES
DOWN TO THE WIRE – With all the PSAC divisions locked in such tight races, not one team has officially clinched a PSAC Tournament berth yet. In the West, it is more of the same with the top four teams being separated by no more than one game apiece. Each of the top four teams (Gannon, Seton Hill, Edinboro and Slippery Rock) will face each other at some point this upcoming weekend, and The Rock can either make or miss the tournament depending on their performances on Friday and Saturday. The top three teams in each division clinch a spot in the PSAC Tournament.
CAN WE MAKE SOME HISTORY? – SRU will be looking for its first PSAC Tournament appearance since 2016 and its seventh appearance overall.
SENIOR DAY – Between SRU's games on Saturday, the team will honor the careers of seniors
Megan Brown,
Andria Copelli,
Caitlyn MacKelvey and
Kailey Myers for their outstanding contributions to the SRU softball program on and off the field over the past four seasons.
RED HOT NICHOLSON – SRU's
Adeline Nicholson has been swinging a hot bat lately. In her past six games, she is hitting .391 (9-for-23) with two home runs, two doubles and 10 RBI. On the season, she leads the team in home runs (6) and RBI (29).
BLAME IT ON THE EXPERIENCE – It's no surprise that two of the team's top hitters this season have been seniors MacKelvey and Brown. The pair have combined to play 274 games in their careers and this season, MacKelvey is hitting a team-best .317 (32-for-101) while Brown is batting .305 (40-for-131).
COMPLETE-GAME CAMIE – SRU's two wins over Mercyhurst were due to solid performances in the circle from its ace,
Camie Shumaker. Shumaker earned both wins in the circle, and registered her 16th complete-game of the season.
ALL-TIME SERIES VS. GANNON – Gannon leads the all-time series with a 49-22 record dating back to 1980. The Golden Knights and The Rock split their first doubleheader matchup this season on April 11.
ALL-TIME SERIES VS. SETON HILL – Seton Hill leads the all-time series with a 14-13 record. The two teams split the games during their first meeting back on April 6.
