New/Sortable Box Score SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Kaitlyn Barackman became the 14th Rock women's soccer player in program history to record a hat trick Saturday in a 4-0 home win for Slippery Rock University over Gannon University at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium.

With the win, Slippery Rock closes the 2019 regular season with a 15-3-0 overall record and a 14-2-0 mark in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division. The 15 wins tie the program record for victories in a regular season.Â
Gannon falls to 8-7-2 with a 7-7-2 mark in division play.
In addition to Barackman's hat trick,
Rachel Edge scored her team-leading 15th goal of the year while
Kayla Swope and
Shannon McIntyre recorded two assists each.Â
As PSACÂ Western Division regular season champions, Slippery Rock will now turn its sights to the upcoming PSAC Tournament where it will first host Indiana University (Pa.) 1 p.m. Tuesday at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium in opening-round play.Â

The win comes on the heels of SRU being ranked third in the Atlantic Region for the second-straight week by the NCAA Division ll Women's Soccer Committee.

The regional rankings are the only official ranking used by the NCAA to determine which teams from each of the eight regions will qualify for the 56-team NCAA Division ll playoffs. The top six teams in the Atlantic Region in the final set of rankings will earn a berth in the NCAA Tournament.

Slippery Rock opened the scoring just over six minutes into the game when Barackman netted an unassisted goal to give Slippery Rock the early 1-0 advantage on a shot from 16 yards out to the lower right of the goal.Â

Barackman added to her scoring ledger when she played a double-assist from Swope and McIntyre through the Golden Knight defense for her second score of the afternoon. The senior later converted on a pass from Swope in the 52nd minute to secure the 19th the hat trick.Â

The hat trick was also the second in the last two games for The Rock with Edge netting three goals against California University (Pa.) last time out.
However, the scoring effort for Edge didn't stop against the Vulcans as the sophomore netted The Rock's fourth goal of the game in the 53rd minute off of a corner kick entry pass from McIntyre to secure the 4-0 victory.Â

Edge finishes the regular season leading the PSAC in points with 38 while being tied for the conference lead in goals.

Emma Yoder turned in a solid performance in goal, adding six saves in what was her seventh shutout performance of 2019.

Slippery Rock held the advantage over Gannon in total shots (11-10) while GU held the edge in shots on goal (7-6). The two teams tied in corner kick attempts with five each.

SRU finishes the regular season with 14 conference victories (42 points). The Rock's 14 wins are tied with Bloomsburg for the most in the conference and The Rock trails the Huskies by one one-point for the most in the PSAC this season.

• Slippery Rock scored four goals against the Golden Knights, marking the 10th game this season SRU has scored three or more goals.

• With the shutout of Gannon, The Rock finishes the 2019 regular season with seven shutout victories marking the second-consecutive season SRU has finished with seven or more shutout wins.

• Slippery Rock finishes the season leading the conference in scoring with 51 goals and an average of 2.83 goals per game. The 51 scores this season for The Rock are the most is has scored since scoring 53 goals in 2004.
