LAST MEETING
Slippery Rock recorded a 2-2 draw on the road against Gannon. The Golden Knights got the scoring started with a goal by Emily Cekella in the third minute to give Gannon a 1-0 lead.

GU extended its lead when Taylor Lewis netted her sixth score of the season at the 30:29 mark on a pass from Kayla Bevacqua, giving Gannon a 2-0 advantage.

Slippery Rock responded when
Skye Kramer lined a penalty kick for her second goal of 2018, cutting the Golden Knight lead to 2-1 in the 36th minute. SRU evened the score when
Jordyn Minda netted her fourth goal of the season at the 78:46 mark on a feed from
Brooke Testa.

That would be all the scoring however, with neither team converting on offense through two overtime periods, ending the contest in a 2-2 tie.Â

SRU and Gannon are tied 11-11-1. The two programs have been evenly matched throughout the series history, with the teams splitting each of the last 10 matchups.

SCOUTING THE ROCK

LAST TIME OUT – Slippery Rock fell to Edinboro, 2-1 on the road. The contest was a defensive battle in the first half, with The Rock successfully defending six Fighting Scot shots. SRU recorded four shots before halftime, but were unable to convert leading to a scoreless tie at the half.

Edinboro converted a scoring opportunity 35 seconds into the second half on Brittnie Spithaler's fourth goal of the season, giving the Fighting Scots a 1-0 advantage. Slippery Rock responded when
Rachel Edge netted her team-leading seventh score of 2019 to tie the game at 1-1 in the 76th minute.

The Rock defense reestablished itself following the Edge score, defending ten straight shots from the Fighting Scots including three consecutive saves from SRU goalkeeper
Emma Yoder to send the game to overtime.

Just over three minutes into the first overtime period, Spithaler chipped a pass to Danielle Chatten who beat Yoder and secured a 2-1 overtime victory for Edinboro. Fighting Scot goalkeeper Anna Voelker finished the night with four saves in 93:20 minutes while Yoder finished with a season-high nine saves.

FOLLOWING A LOSS – Over the past 10 seasons, SRU has a 29-9-2 record following a loss, outscoring opponents 79-29 in those games.

GAIN THE EDGE – Edge scored her team-best seventh goal of the season in the loss to Edinboro. The sophomore has scored in seven of nine games this season.

KEEPER COUNT – Yoder finished last week with nine saves and two goals allowed in one contest against Edinboro while facing a season-high 11 shots on goal. The sophomore ranks tied for fourth in the PSAC in shutouts (3) and goals allowed (7) while ranking fifth in save percentage (.848).

SEVEN-STRAIGHT – The loss to Edinboro snapped a seven-game winning-streak for SRU. The streak was tied for the sixth-longest in program history and marked its longest since 2016. The loss also snapped a streak of scoring at least two goals in seven-straight games for The Rock, the longest such streak since 2004.

TOUGH ON THE ROAD – The 2-1 loss to Edinboro was the first road loss of the season for Slippery Rock, marking the longest SRU has gone without a road loss to start a season since 2013. SRU has not had a losing road record in a single season since 2007.Â

SCORING FRENZY – After being shutout against Walsh University to open the season, Slippery Rock has scored at least one goal in each of its next eight contests. The last time SRU scored at least one goal in eight straight games came in 2012.

PSAC LEADERS – Edge and
Kayla Swope are tied for first in the PSAC in assists (5) while Edge is tied for second in goals, points (19) and points per game average (2.11).
Shannon McIntyre rounds out the conference leaders for SRU, ranking tied for second in assists (4).
As a team, Slippery Rock ranks second in goals scored with 23 and sixth in goals allowed with seven this season.Â

ROUNDING OUT THE ATTACK – Sofia Harrison ranks second for The Rock in goals (4) this season while Minda, Swope and
Tyler Spence are tied for third in goals with three apiece while McIntyre has added two goals.
Georgia Nagucki rounds out the scoring attack for Slippery Rock with one score this season.
Kaitlyn Barackman ranks third for SRU in assists (2) while Minda, Nagucki,
Megan Sikora,

AGAINST GANNON – Minda is the only player on the current roster for Slippery Rock who has scored against Gannon, adding her fourth goal of the 2018 season in a 2-2 draw against the Golden Knights last season.Â

STADINGS CHECK - With 18 points, Slippery Rock trails Edinboro by one-point for first place in the PSAC Western Division standings. Mercyhurst and Seton Hill are tied for third place with 12 points followed by Gannon (10 points), IUP (nine points) and Pitt-Johnstown (nine points). California and Clarion round out the division standings with six and zero points respectively.Â

SCOUTING THE GOLDEN KNIGHTS

Last time out: Gannon is coming off a 3-0 victory over Clarion at home. The Golden Knights took an early 1-0 lead on a score from Sarah Fails at the 12:44 mark. Maddie North added her second goal of 2019 in the 62nd minute off a deflection to give Gannon the 2-0 advantage.

GU secured the 3-0 victory when North netted her second score of the game on a free kick from Alexa Dix. Golden Knight goalkeeper Kennedy Solymosi recorded four saves in 90 clean minutes en route to her second shutout of the season.

• Megan McCartney leads the way on offense for Gannon with seven points on three goals and one assist. Emily Cekella and North are tied with McCartney for the team lead in goals while Vanessa Coccurello has a team-high two assists in 2019.

• Solymosi has started all eight games for GU this season, recording a .676 save percentage along with a 1.45 goals average against and 25 saves.
