LAST MEETING
Slippery Rock defeated California on Sept. 28, 4-0 at home. Rachel Edge opened the scoring in the 16th minute when she netted a pass from Brooke Riefenstahl for her fifth goal of the season, giving SRU the early 1-0 advantage.
 
Shannon McIntyre joined the scoring attack in the 18th minute when she played a feed from Kayla Swope through the Vulcan defense and into the goal for her second score of the season, extending the Slippery Rock advantage to 2-0.
 
The Rock continued its first-half scoring outburst in the 32nd minute when Tyler Spence lined a shot from outside the box for her second goal of 2019, pushing the SRU lead to 3-0.
 
Slippery Rock sealed the 4-0 conference victory over California when Swope scored in the 89th minute on a pass from Tatum Bradley for her third score of the season.
 
SERIES HISTORY
Slippery Rock leads the all-time series 27-10-2 after picking up a 4-0 victory earlier this season. SRU owns a 14-4-2 record in road games against California including winning six of the last seven road matchups with the Vulcans.
 
Over the last 10 games against Cal U., The Rock has a 9-1-0 record while outscoring the Vulcans 22-4 over that span.

SCOUTING THE ROCK
• LAST TIME OUT – Slippery Rock fell on the road to Indiana University (Pa.), 2-1. The Crimson Hawks opened the scoring in the 10th minute when Mahogany Willis played a pass from Gia Martyn into the goal to give IUP the early 1-0 advantage.
 
SRU responded when Riefenstahl netted her first collegiate goal in the 26th minute on a pass from Shannon McIntyre to tie the game at 1-1.
 
Indiana regained the lead when Willis scored in the 48th minute on her conference leading 14th goal of the season with Alayna Ryan providing the assist.
 
A corner kick attempt by The Rock was turned away with just over three minutes remaining in the contest to secure the 2-1 victory for IUP.
 
• STILL ON TOP – Despite the loss at IUP, Slippery Rock (33 points) remained in first place in the PSAC West Standings over Edinboro University (30 points).  
 
IUP sits alone in third place with 21 points followed by Mercyhurst University with 19 points. Seton Hill University (18 points) is in fifth place followed by Gannon University (17 points) in sixth.
 
Clarion University sits in seventh place with 10 points followed by the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown with nine points. California rounds out the division standings with a total of seven points in 2019.

At the end of the season, the top-four teams based on point total in both the PSAC West and PSAC East will advance to the conference tournament. 

• REGIONAL RANKINGS – The first set of NCAA regional rankings will be released Wednesday. Slippery Rock is a member of the Atlantic Region which consists of women's soccer teams from the PSAC, the Mountain East Conference, as well as independent schools Salem University and Shaw University. 
 
Eight teams from the region will be ranked each Wednesday for the rest of the season, with the top-six teams making the NCAA Tournament at the end of the season. The MEC and PSAC championship teams will receive automatic bids to the NCAA Tournament as well as four at-large bids that will be determined by the final regional rankings. 

With one of the top records in the Atlantic Region, Slippery Rock figures to be near the top of the inital regional rankings. 

• FOLLOWING A LOSS – Over the past 10 seasons, SRU has a 30-9-2 record following a loss, outscoring opponents 80-29 in those games.

• KEEPER COUNT - Rock goalkeeper Emma Yoder allowed two goals against IUP, breaking a streak of five-straight games of allowing one goal or less. 

On the season, Yoder has a .829 save percentage along with a 0.79 goals against average and 58 saves. 
 
• PSAC LEADERS – Edge ranks second in the PSAC in goals this season with 11 and points at 29. The sophomore has the second-most shots on goal in the conference with 34 and ranks second in assists this season with seven.
 
Swope's six assists are the third-most in the PSAC this year while McIntyre is tied for fourth with five assists. Jordyn Minda is tied for second in game-winning goals with four this season.
 
Among PSAC goalkeepers, Yoder ranks fourth in goals against average and fifth in shutouts.
 
THE BRIGHT SIDE – McIntyre and Riefenstahl were two bright spots for The Rock against Indiana, with Riefenstahl netting her first collegiate goal on a pass from McIntyre. The pair led SRU with four shots each on the day with Riefenstahl putting two on goal.
 
On the season, McIntyre ranks third in assists for SRU with five while Riefenstahl has four points on two assists and a goal.
 
• ROAD WARRIORS – SRU has done well in road games following a loss this season including a 2-1 victory over No. 16 West Virginia Wesleyan College and a 1-0 road victory over Gannon.
 
In road contests overall this season, Slippery Rock is 6-2-0, outscoring opponents 18-7 in those games.
 
• BECAUSE TWO IS BETTER THAN ONE – Scoring two or more goals per game has been vital to the success of the 2019 Slippery Rock women's soccer team.
 
In games where SRU scores two or more times, The Rock has a perfect 10-0-0 record, in contests where it scores less than two goals, Slippery Rock has a 1-3-0 mark.

• FINISH STRONG - Having already punched their ticket to the PSAC Tournament, Slippery Rock can match the program record for regular season wins at 15 if it wins each of the last three games. 
 
• AGAINST CALIFORNIA – McIntyre leads the way for SRU against California offensively with two career goals against the Vulcans. Edge, Spence, Madison Johnson, Kaitlyn Barackman, and Sofia Harrison round out the scoring against Cal U. with one career goal each against the Vulcans.
 
Yoder found success in her first career start against California earlier this season, recording a five-save shutout in a 4-0 Rock victory.
 
• ROUNDING OUT THE ATTACK – Minda is second for SRU in points this season with 18 along with goals (7), total shots (37) and shots on goal (22). Swope and Spence are tied for third with five goals each this season while Harrison is fourth with four scores in 2019.
 
McIntyre has three goals and Georgia Nagucki has two while Katy Ericson, Ashley Rea and Riefenstahl round out the scoring attack for Slippery Rock with one goal each.
 
Swope is second for The Rock in assists with six while McIntyre is in third with five this season. Minda has assisted on four goals this year followed by Spence with three. Barackman and Reifenstahl each have two assists along with Miranda Gallucci and Julia Mascaro
 
Ericson, Nagucki, Harrison, Tatum Bradley and Megan Sikora round out the assist leaders for Slippery Rock with one each this season.
 
THIS WEEK IN ROCK HISTORY
• Nov. 4, 2012 – SRU upsets No. 16 California on the road, 3-0 to capture the PSAC championship. Shelby Ward broke a scoreless tie in the 63rd minute on a double-assist from Lucy Hannon and Allison Harbart, giving Slippery Rock the 1-0 advantage.
 
Hannon extended The Rock's lead in the 69th minute on her ninth goal of the season with Cailin Conner providing the assist.
 
Slippery Rock secured a 3-0 victory and the PSAC title when Hannon scored her second goal of the game. Dana O'Neill pitched a shutout in goal for The Rock, finishing with five saves in 90 clean minutes.

SCOUTING THE VULCANS
• Last time out: California played Gannon to a 3-3 draw at home. Abbey McComb opened the scoring for the Vulcans in the 15th minute on her second goal of the season, giving Cal U. the early 1-0 advantage.
 
The scoring in the contest would cease until the 61st minute when Megan McCartney scored off a penalty kick for her fourth goal of the season to tie the game at 1-1.
 
California struck back just under two minutes later when Juliana Cruz scored for the second time in 2019 to push the Vulcan lead to 2-1 at 62:41.
 
McCartney struck again for the Golden Knights, tying the contest at 2-2 on a free kick at 64:00. Cruz responded with her second score of the game for California in the 69th minute on a penalty kick to pull the contest back in favor of the Vulcans at 3-2.
 
Gannon pushed across yet another score with just 31 seconds remaining in the contest when Maddie North scored for the fourth time this season.
 
That would be all the scoring for the game however, as both defenses settled in through the two overtime periods, ending the contest in a 3-3 draw.
 
• Cruz leads the way on offense for the Vulcans with a team-high nine points on three goals and three assists. Lindsie Galbreath is second for Cal U. with eight points on three goals and two assists this season.
 
• Carly Gobbie and Gianna Sinatra have split time in goal for the Vulcans this year. In nine appearances with seven starts, Gobbie has a .707 save percentage along with a 2.15 goals against average and 41 saves.
 
In seven appearances with six starts, Sinatra has a .545 save percentage with a 2.72 goals against average and 18 saves.
