LAST MEETING
Slippery Rock defeated Indiana on Sept. 25, 3-1. IUP opened the scoring when Mahogany Willis scored her conference-leading ninth goal of the season with Alayna Ryan providing the assist to give the Crimson Hawks a 1-0 lead in the 5th minute.

SRU responded with a score of its own in the 36th minute when
Georgia Nagucki netted her first collegiate score on a pass from
Kayla Swope to even the score at 1-1.

The Rock took the lead when Swope joined the scoring effort in the 67th minute when she played a pass from
Katy Ericson to give Slippery Rock the 2-1 advantage.

Sofia Harrison secured a 3-1 Rock victory in the 80th minute on her fourth score of the season with Nagucki providing the assist. SRU goalkeeper
Emma Yoder finished with seven saves in the winning effort.

Slippery Rock leads the all-time series 19-16-2 after picking up a 3-1 victory earlier this season. The Rock has an 8-10-1 record on the road against the Crimson Hawks, with IUP taking each of the last three matchups against The Rock on its home turf.

SCOUTING THE ROCK

LAST TIME OUT – Slippery Rock defeated Mercyhurst at home, 2-1. With the win, SRU clinched a spot in the PSAC Tournament for the ninth-consecutive season.

The Rock opened the scoring in the 37th minute when
Rachel Edge scored her team-leading 11th goal of the season on a pass from
Julia Mascaro to give SRU the 1-0 advantage.

Slippery Rock added to its lead when
Tyler Spence scored her fifth goal of 2019 in the 40th minute with Edge providing the assist, giving The Rock a 2-0 lead.
Â
Mercyhurst added a score in the 58th minute when Alyssa Otto played a pass from Lauren Casey through the stout Rock defense to cut the SRU lead to 2-1.

The Slippery Rock defense settled in following the score, defending two Laker shots and corner kick attempts to secure the 2-1 home victory for The Rock.

CLINCHED – With the win over Mercyhurst, SRU clinched a spot in the PSAC Tournament for the ninth-consecutive season.

Slippery Rock's nine consecutive PSAC Tournament appearances since 2010 are tied with Kutztown University and West Chester University for the most over that span.

PROGRAM RECORD IN SIGHT – Slippery Rock has a chance to make program history if it wins each of its last four games. The program record for regular season wins is 15, a mark set in 2007.

With four more victories, SRU would total a new program record of 16 regular season wins.

STANDINGS CHECK – Slippery Rock (33 points) increased its lead to three-points over Edinboro (30 points) in the PSAC Western Division standings. IUP and Seton Hill are tied for third place with 18 points each followed by Mercyhurst and Gannon with 16 points.

Pitt-Johnstown sits in seventh place with nine points followed by Clarion with seven points. California rounds out the division standings with six points.

At the end of the season, the top-four teams based on point total in both the PSAC West and PSAC East qualify for the conference tournament.

With SRU clinching a tournament berth against Mercyhurst, only three tournament berths remain in the PSAC Western Division. The Western Division regular season champion will host the semi-final and championship rounds of the PSAC Tournament.Â

GUESS WHO'S BACK – After not scoring against Seton Hill,
 Edge returned to her scoring ways with her 11th goal of the season while adding an assist in the win over Mercyhurst, she has now scored 10 of 14 games for SRU this season.Â

On the season, Edge leads The Rock on offense with 29 points on 11 goals and seven assists along with holding the team lead in total shots (53) and shots on goal (31).
Â
With her score against MU, Edge became the first Rock women's soccer player since Dara Dremich in 2015 to score 11 or more goals in a season.

KEEPER COUNT – Yoder continued her strong season in goal for The Rock against Mercyhurst. The sophomore added four saves while allowing one goal to improve her record to 12-2-0 in 2019.

On the season, Yoder has a .846 save percentage along with a 0.71 goals against average and 55 saves.

SPECTACULAR SPENCE – Spence has turned in a career-year in her senior season thus far. Spence, who has scored in two of the last four games, has a career-best 13 points on five goals and three assists while adding 23 total shots with 15 being on goal.

JUST KEEP SCORING – Slippery Rock extended its streak of scoring two or more goals per contest to four-straight games in the 2-1 victory over Mercyhurst.

This season, SRU has scored at least two goals in 11 of 14 games including scoring at least four goals five times in 2019. The Rock has a perfect 11-0-0 record in games when it scores more than one goal, in contests when it scores one goal or less, SRU has a 1-2-0 mark.

PSAC LEADERS – Edge leads the conference in points while being tied for first in the PSAC in assists. The sophomore ranks second in goals while sitting in fourth in shots on goal with 31 and fifth in total shots with 53.

Jordyn Minda is tied for the conference lead in game-winning goals with four along with ranking fifth in goals (7) and tied for fifth in points with 18. Swope rounds out the PSAC leaders on offense for Slippery Rock with her six assists being third best in the conference.

Among PSAC goalkeepers, Yoder's five shutouts rank third in the conference while her 0.71 goals against average is fourth in the PSAC.

As a team, Slippery Rock ranks second in the conference with 39 goals scored while allowing the fourth fewest goals in the PSAC at 10. The Rock's +2.08 scoring margin is the third best mark among conference leaders.

ROAD WARRIORS – Slippery Rock has been just as good on the road as its been at home. The Rock's 6-1-0 road record is the best seven-game road mark for SRU since starting 5-2-1 in 2015.

Jessica Griggs is off to the best start to a coaching career for an SRU women's soccer coach in program history. Through 90 games at SRU, Griggs has a career record of 57-27-6 (.667).

ROCK SOLID DEFENSE – The Slippery Rock defense has been stellar throughout the 2019 regular season. The Rock has recorded five shutouts this season while allowing more than one goal only once in 2019. SRU is allowing an average of .71 goals per game, the third best mark in the PSAC.

STREAKING – Slippery Rock has won five-straight games and 12 of its last 14 contests. Earlier this season, SRU tied the sixth-longest winning streak in program history with seven-straight victories. Slippery Rock is outscoring opponents 16-3 over the current win streak.Â

SCOUTING THE CRIMSON HAWKS

Last time out: IUP secured a 2-0 road victory over Gannon. Indiana opened the scoring when Taylor Karan netted her third goal of 2019 when she played a pass from Samantha Joyce to give the Crimson hawks a 1-0 lead in the 58th minute.

Indiana secured the 2-0 victory when Makenzie Witzel scored in the 82nd minute off a free kick for her third score of the season. Crimson Hawk goalkeeper Madeline Smakulski turned in a stellar performance with nine saves in 90 clean minutes.

• The Crimson Hawks are led on offense Mahogany Willis who has a team-best 27 points on a PSAC-best 12 goals along with three assists. Willis is followed by Ryan, Karan and Witzel who have three goals each this season.

Mya Hilliard has guided the IUP offense with four assists this season followed by DeAvion Anderson, Joyce, Willis and Ryan who have three assists apiece.

• In goal this season for the Crimson Hawks, Smakulski has a .889 save percentage along with a 1.31 goals against average and conference-best 90 saves.
