SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University women's soccer team will travel to Edinboro University for a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division matchup 6 p.m. Wednesday.

LAST MEETING
Slippery Rock defeated Edinboro at home, 1-0. The Rock were outshot 13-11 in the contest, but SRU goalkeeper Kylie Downs recorded five saves in her sixth shutout victory of the season.
 
Kailtlyn Barackman scored in the 57th minute on a chipped pass from Skye Kramer to secure a 1-0 victory for Slippery Rock.
 
SERIES HISTORY
SRU leads the all-time series 20-4-8, winning four of the last six games against the Fighting Scots. The Rock holds a 6-1-3 record over its past ten matchups with Edinboro.

The Rock has an 11-0-5 all-time record on the road against the Fighting Scots and have a 3-0-2 record over the last five road games against Edinboro.

SCOUTING THE ROCK
BATTLE FOR FIRST - SRU currently holds a five-point lead over Edinboro heading into Wednesday's contest in the PSAC Western Division standings. Both teams remain undefeated in conference play with Edinboro holding a 4-0-1 record and Slippery Rock a perfect 6-0-0 mark. 

• LAST TIME OUT – Slippery Rock defeated California University of Pennsylvania, 4-0 at home. SRU controlled the pace on offense throughout the contest, with Rachel Edge scoring her team-leading sixth goal of the season in the 16th minute giving The Rock a 1-0 lead.
 
Shannon McIntyre netted her second goal of 2019 on a pass from Kayla Swope to stretch the SRU lead to 2-0 over Cal U. Tyler Spence followed McIntyre with a lined free kick into the top-left corner of the net for the senior's second score of the season in the 32nd minute.
 
Swope put a cap on a 4-0 Rock victory with the freshman's third goal of the season, playing a chipped pass from Tatum Bradley at the 88:21 mark. Rock goalkeeper Emma Yoder recorded her third shutout of 2019 with five saves.
 
• WIN, WIN, WIN – The 4-0 victory over Cal U. marked the seventh-consecutive victory for SRU, tying the sixth-longest winning streak in program history and the longest streak since 2016. Over the current win streak, SRU is outscoring opponents 22-4 marking the most goals scored over a seven-game stretch for The Rock since 2015.

• KEEPER COUNT – Yoder finished last week with 12 saves and one goal allowed in two starts, facing a combined 13 shots on goal, earning the sophomore her third-consecutive PSAC Western Division Defensive Athlete of the Week honor. Yoder ranks among the PSAC's best goalkeepers this season, being tied for third in shutouts (3), fourth in saves (30), fourth in goals allowed (5) and seventh in save percentage (.857).

• FRESHMAN ON FIRE – The reigning PSAC Western Division Athlete of the Week, Swope, led The Rock offense against IUP and Cal U. last week. The freshman finished with a combined six points on two goals, two assists, 10 totals shots and five shots on goal. Swope is tied for the team lead in assists (5) while ranking third on the team in goals (3). 

THREE STRAIGHT WEEKS - The Rock's incredible win streak has brought individual recognition for members of the team. During the streak, Yoder has garnered PSAC West Defensive Athlete of the Week three-straight weeks (Sept. 16 - Sept. 30) while Edge (Sept. 23) and Swope (Sept. 30) have earned PSAC West Athlete of the week. 
 
• GAIN THE EDGE – Edge scored for the sixth time in eight games this season for SRU against Indiana (Pa.). On the season, Edge leads SRU in goals (6), points (17), total shots (29), shots on goal (16) and is tied for first in assists (5).
 
• ATTACK THE DEFENSE – The Slippery Rock offense recorded a season-high 31 shots against California (Pa.). The 31 shots mark the most by Slippery Rock since 2015 and the fourth most in a single-game in program history.
 
• ROCK SOLID DEFENSE – After recording a 3-1 victory over Indiana and a 4-0 win over California, SRU has allowed one goal or less in each of its eight games this season. The streak of allowing one goal or less is the longest for Slippery Rock since the 2013 season.
 
• OFFENSE STAYS HOT – Slippery Rock scored four goals for the third time this season. The last time SRU scored four goals three times or more in a season came in 2015.
 
• PSAC LEADERS – Edge and Swope sit at the top of the conference in several offensive categories this season. The pair is tied for first in the PSAC in assists while Edge ranks tied for second in goals,  tied for second in points and tied for fourth in shots on goal.

• ROUNDING OUT THE ATTACK – The Rock continues to get contributions from top to bottom on its roster this season. Sofia Harrison ranks second for Slippery Rock in goals with four while Jordyn Minda, Spence and Swope are tied for third with three apiece. McIntyre is second in assists and third in points while Minda ranks third in shots on goal with 13.
 
• AGAINST EDINBORO – Kailtlyn Barackman and Madison Johnson have both previously scored against the Fighting Scots. Barackman added her third goal of 2018 when she scored the game-winning goal in a 1-0 win over Edinboro while Johnson recorded the first goal of her collegiate career in a 1-1 draw in 2017 against the Fighting Scots.

• Oct. 5, 2011 – Slippery Rock upsets No. 19 Edinboro, 1-0 on the road. Lucy Hannon scored her seventh goal of the season in the 42nd minute and Rock goalkeeper Lisa Rodgers earned the shutout victory with two saves.

SCOUTING THE FIGHTING SCOTS
• Last time out: Edinboro is coming off a 2-2 double draw against Gannon University at home. The Golden Knights took a 1-0 lead just 31 seconds into the game with an Aesling McCullough score.
 
Edinboro tied the game in the sixth minute when Brittany Hurey netted a pass from Brittnie Spithaler. The Fighting Scots grabbed the lead when Spithaler chipped a pass to Leah Czechowski at the 39:14 mark.
 
Gannon tied the score at two apiece in the 45th minute when Hannah Hays scored an unassisted goal, finishing the scoring for the contest, ending in double-overtime draw.
 
Fighting Scot goalkeeper Anna Voelker finished with six saves in 110 minutes played.
 
• Spithaler leads the way for Edinboro on offense, being tied for first in goals (3) and assists (4) along with leading in points (10) and total shots (17).
 
• Voelker has started all seven games in goal for the Fighting Scots this season. The sophomore has 35 saves with a .761 save percentage and a 1.52 goals against average.

• Edinboro ranks sixth in the PSAC in goals scored (14) and ninth in goals allowed (11) this season.
