Rock set for PSAC match against East Stroudsburg

The Slippery Rock women’s soccer team will host East Stroudsburg 1 p.m. Saturday for a PSAC match at James Egli Field.

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University women's soccer team will host East Stroudsburg University 1 p.m. Saturday for a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference match at James Egli Field.

LAST MEETING
The Rock and the Warriors last played on Oct. 31, 2017 in the first round of the PSAC Tournament. Brooke Testa scored SRU's lone goal early in the sixth minute, but ESU's Molly Vicari and Monica Wood tallied scores later in the match to help East Stroudsburg to the victory, 2-1.
 
SERIES HISTORY
ESU owns a 13-10-4 overall record against SRU. Slippery Rock has not won a match against East Stroudsburg since 2013.

SCOUTING THE ROCK
• LAST TIME OUT – Slippery Rock dropped a PSAC road contest Wednesday at Seton Hill, 2-1. Jordyn Minda scored SRU's lone goal off an assist from Reagan Reeves.
 
• CHANGE OF PACE – Slippery Rock is aiming for its first win since Sept. 13 when it beat Edinboro. SRU is also looking for its first victory against East Stroudsburg since 2013.
 
• THE OFFENSE – Currently leading the team in total points is Minda with 10 on five goals. Skye Kramer is second on the roster with seven points on two goals and three assists.
 
• MORE OFFENSE – Kaitlyn Barackman, Rachel Edge and Testa are all tied for third on the team in points with six apiece. Barackman has three goals while Testa and Edge both have one goal and four assists. Testa and Edge are tied for fourth in the PSAC in assists.
 
• DEFENSE IS KEY – SRU still leads the conference in team shutouts with seven. The Rock are also fourth in the PSAC in team goals against average at 0.60 and tied for fourth in total goals allowed with six. The team has done all this while playing the most minutes of any team in the conference at 944:29.
 
QUITE A PAIR IN NET – Both Kylie Downs and Emma Yoder have been impressive in net for The Rock this season. Downs is 4-2-1 in seven starts on the year with four shutouts, a .829 save percentage and a 0.83 goals against average. Her four shutouts are tied for second in the PSAC. Yoder is 2-0-1 in three starts with three shutouts, a 1.000 save percentage and a 0.00 goals against average.

RING OF HONOR – Seven members of both the SRU men's and women's soccer programs will be honored Friday evening for their contributions on and off the field. Raymond Aubel, Jeff Buirge, Mike Dichov, Roberta Greene, Sal Marsico, Melisa O'Toole and Richard Tongel were all inducted into the Ring of Honor.

SCOUTING THE WARRIORS
• Monica Wood and Nicole Abbott are ESU's top scorers thus far in 2018 tallying 13 and 10 total points, respectively. Wood has six goals and one assist while Abbott has managed four goals and two assists.
 
• Alex Pickett is third on the roster with eight points on one goal and six assists while Haley Skove and Jules Sicker have both registered three goals and one assist apiece.
 
• Goalkeeper Mauri Jackson is first in the PSAC in save percentage at .947 and is tied for second in the conference in shutouts with four.
 
• ESU is 4-1 in its last five games with big wins against No. 25 Millersville and Shippensburg.
