Rock ready for PSAC contest against Edinboro

The Slippery Rock women’s soccer team will play a PSAC contest against Edinboro 4 p.m. Tuesday at James Egli Field.

LAST MEETING
The Rock and the Fighting Scots last played on Aug. 31, 2017 to begin last year's campaign. Madison Johnson and Julianna Esposito each tallied a goal, but EU recorded two scores to tie the game in the late minutes. The game went into overtime, but ended in a draw, 2-2.
 
SERIES HISTORY
Slippery Rock owns a 19-4-8 record against Edinboro dating back to 1996. SRU has won three out of the last five matchups between the two teams.

SCOUTING THE ROCK
• LAST TIME OUT – Slippery Rock shut out Walsh Saturday in a non-conference game, 1-0.  Madison Johnson tallied the game-winner off an assist by Skye Kramer and goalkeeper Emma Yoder made eight saves earning the shutout victory.
 
• THE ROCK WALL – SRU's defense has been one of the best in the conference. The Rock are first in the PSAC in team shutouts with five, tied for second in goals allowed with two and third in goals against average at 0.33.   
 
• THE OFFENSIVE LEADERS – Jordyn Minda and Rachel Edge have recorded six points apiece. Minda has managed three goals while Edge has one goal and four assists. Brooke Testa is third on the team with five points on one goal and three assists while Kaitlyn Barackman and Kramer are tied for fourth on the roster with four points each.
 
• KEEP THAT STUFF OUT OF THE NET – Goalkeeper Kylie Downs has started four games, has a 3-1-0 record, a 0.49 goals against average and a .867 save percentage. Reigning PSAC Athlete of the Week, Yoder, has started two games in net and carries a 0.00 goals against average and a 1.000 save percentage. Both Downs and Yoder have claimed PSAC Athlete of the Week honors this season. 
 
• AIMING FOR 20 – Slippery Rock is aiming for its 20th win in its history in games against the Fighting Scots. If SRU wins Tuesday, the team will have beaten Edinboro, Lock Haven, California (Pa.) and Clarion at least 20 times since the SRU women's soccer program began in 1993.
 
• THE NEXT STRETCH – Following its contest against Edinboro, SRU will play Lock Haven, Gannon, Seton Hill and East Stroudsburg who have a combined record of 14-8-1.

• Danielle Chatten leads Edinboro in total points with eight on four goals. Rebecca Manns is second on the roster with five points on one goal and three assists.
 
• Brittnie Spithaler and Cameron Bujnoski are tied for third on the team with three points on one goal and one assist apiece.
 
• Defensively, Edinboro has surrendered 12 goals and has one shutout this season.
 
• Goalkeeper Anna Voelker has started every game in net for EU and has a 2.00 goals against average and a .727 save percentage.
