SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University softball team will travel to Erie, Pennsylvania for a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division doubleheader at Mercyhurst University Wednesday afternoon in hopes of snapping a four-game losing streak.
SRU will play game one of the doubleheader at 2:00 p.m. with the second contest scheduled for 4:00 p.m.

MERCYHURST SERIES HISTORY
Mercyhurst leads the all-time series against Slippery Rock, 36-32. The teams have split the last two season series. In 2017, SRU and MU split both doubleheaders, and in 2016, Slippery Rock won two games at Mercyhurst and the Lakers earned two victories at The Rock.

THE ROCK NOTES

BEAT THE STREAK – Slippery Rock is currently on its longest losing streak of the season. The last four-game losing streak for SRU was at the end of 2017 when it lost four games to close out last season.

THE BATS – As a team, SRU is hitting .287 (194-for-677).
Kailey Myers (.443),
Emily Nagle (.337),
Alexa Guglielmino (.324) and
Lauren Hawley (.304) are all hitting above .300.

RELYIN' ON MYERS – Myers had another solid weekend going 3-for-6 with a double and an RBI. She leads the team in average, hits (31), RBI (19), slugging percentage (.600) and on-base percentage (.524). The junior is also hitting .522 (12-for-23 with runners in scoring position.

BROWN COMING ALIVE – Megan Brown has brought her season average to .294 (20-for-68) and currently has an eight-game hitting streak. Brown also leads the PSAC in sacrifice bunts (14) and is fourth in the conference in stolen bases (11).

WALK THIS WAY – The Rock continues to get on base via the base-on-balls. SRU hitters have walked a combined 74 times, which is ranked second in the conference.
Becca Roesch (13), Myers (12) and Brown (11) are third, fourth and fifth in the PSAC, respectively.

AN UNFORTUNATE CLIMB – On March 11, SRU had a team ERA of 2.28. Since that day, The Rock's team ERA has climbed to 3.41. Through the first 12 games of the season SRU had surrendered just two home runs and in its last 13 contests, Slippery Rock has allowed six balls to clear the wall.

STILL CHASING RECORDS – Brooke Dawson did start last weekend, but could not earn a victory. She needs just one to tie Slippery Rock's all-time win record of 30.
• OUT OF THE PEN – Dawson,
Paige Flore,
Camie Shumaker and
Andria Copelli have made at least three starts this season. When entering the game out of the bullpen, the quartet has managed a 1.57 ERA (10 ER in 44.2 IP).

LAKERS NOTES
• Mercyhurst has three players hitting above .280 including Ellie Dougher (.304), Sarah Koscho (.282) and Jolene Teller (.281).
• Koscho leads the team in hits (20), runs (11), RBI (12) and is tied for the team lead in home runs (1).
• Tori Pierucci, Sarah Eschieman, Jacqueline Gardner, Heather Nye and Allison Smith-DiLisi have combined for a team ERA of 3.93 (80 ER in 142.2 IP).
• Pierucci has garnered most of the workload carrying a 2.25 ERA (26 ER in 81.0 IP) hurling eight complete-games, one shutout and posting a 2-8 record.

Slippery Rock looks to finally play a home game this Friday with a PSAC West doubleheader against Seton Hill at the SRU Softball Complex. First pitch is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
