All-PSAC Release
Â
LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Slippery Rock women's soccer player
Jordyn Minda was selected as the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference's women's soccer Freshman of the Year and was a first team all-conference selection, while junior defender
Madison Johnson was a second team honoree and senior forward
Brooke Testa earned third team All-PSAC recognition.
Â
Minda, a freshman midfielder from South Park, Pennsylvania, is Slippery Rock's first Freshman of the Year selection since
Andrea Felix earned the honor in 2013. In addition to being named the top freshman in the conference, she was selected as a first team All-PSAC honoree.
Â
Johnson, a junior defender from North Olmsted, Ohio, records her second straight second team all-conference honor and Testa, a senior from Rochester, New York, earns her second consecutive All-PSAC selection, this time as a third team honoree.
Â
Minda was one of six Rock players to start in all 19 games and proved to be one of the top offensive performers on SRU's roster tying for the team lead in points with 16. She led all Rock players in goals with seven and added two assists. Four of her seven goals were game-winning scores, which was tied for seventh in the PSAC. The freshman also scored a goal in back-to-back games on three separate occasions.
Â
Johnson joins Minda as one of the six Slippery Rock players to start in all 19 games. As a defender, she tallied one goal, which proved to be the game winner at Walsh on Sept. 15. She was also a key component on a defense that was third in the conference in team shutouts (11) and fourth in team goals against average (0.87).
Â
Testa earned her second all-conference accommodation after starting 17 of her 18 games played. She was tied for first on the team in points with 16 scoring five goals and dishing out six assists, which were tied for sixth in the PSAC. Three of Testa's goals were also game winners and she led the team in shots on goal with 29.
Â
Along with Minda, Lock Haven's Marah Foltz earned PSAC Athlete of the Year, Kutztown's Jenna Bracken was the defensive Athlete of the Year and Millersville's head coach Matt Procopio earned PSAC Coach of the Year rounding out the individual award winners.
Â
Slippery Rock awaits the results of the NCAA Selection Show on Monday, Nov. 5 at 6:30 p.m. to find out if its season will continue. The Rock are looking for their first NCAA Tournament berth since 2013.
