SCOUTING THE ROCK
• LAST TIME OUT – Slippery Rock lost at No. 3 Indiana (Pa.), 76-60, in a road PSAC West contest on Jan. 8 (Box Score).

• A win against Clarion would give Slippery Rock a winning record through its first 15 games of the season for just the second time in the last 16 years; SRU also started the year 8-7 in 2003-04.

• While Slippery Rock still has over half of its conference schedule to play this season, a win against Clarion would continue to keep The Rock on pace to qualify for the PSAC Tournament for the first time since the 2014-15 season. Slippery Rock will enter Wednesday's game ranked fifth in the PSAC West standings. The top six teams in both the PSAC West and the PSAC East at the end of the regular season qualify for the conference tournament.

• A win against Clarion would also give Slippery Rock six conference victories in 2017-18 and mark a fourth straight year in which SRU has earned at least six league wins. Slippery Rock has not had at least six PSAC wins in four consecutive seasons since doing so in 1998-99, 1999-00, 2000-01 and 2001-02.

• Slippery Rock is a perfect 6-0 when leading at halftime and 4-1 when committing fewer turnover than its opponents in 2017-18.

• Slippery Rock remained the second best rebounding team in the PSAC with 42.2 rebounds per game after winning the battle of the boards against nationally ranked Indiana 45-41.

• Included in the 45 rebounds were a season-best 22 offensive rebounds. The 22 offensive rebounds were the most by a Rock team since grabbing 24 rebounds on offense against Lock Haven on Feb. 13, 2013 (127 games). The Rock leads the PSAC in offensive rebounding at 15.2 per contest.

• Slippery Rock's rebounding dominance have come by way of a group effort in which a PSAC-best six players average at least 4.7 rebounds per game. Brooke Hinderliter leads the way with 6.5 rebounds per game followed by Morgan Henderson (5.6), Mallory Heinle (5.2), Krista Pietropola (5.1), Madison Johnson (4.9) and LeeAnn Gibson (4.7).

• The Rock held Indiana to a 42.0 field goal percentage, which was the Crimson Hawks' third lowest field goal percentage of the season. SRU currently ranks fifth in the PSAC in opponent field goal percentage (.369).

• Skyla O'Connor came off the bench to produce a career-high eight points to go with a season-best matching five rebounds against Indiana. O'Connor, who is just a freshman, has accounted for 20 of her 48 points on the season in the last three games. She is shooting 8-for-14 (.571) from the field with per game averages of 6.7 points, 2.0 rebounds, 1.1 steals and 1.0 blocks over that stretch.

• Despite a relatively modest performance against Indiana, Hinderliter is still averaging a healthy 15.2 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.0 steals this season while shooting 45.2 percent from the field and 88.9 percent from the foul line. She ranks second in the PSAC in free throw shooting and 10th in field goal percentage.

• Henderson has scored at least 10 points and pulled down a minimum of five rebounds in six of The Rock's last eight games to increase her season averages to 8.5 points and 5.6 rebounds a contest while also shooting 50.6 percent from the field overall.

• In her first season at The Rock, Johnson has established herself as the team's second leading scorer with 10.4 points per game.

• Pietropola has averaged 6.3 rebounds per game in SRU's last three contests.

• Sierra Fordham made her first start of the season against Indiana, playing 31 minutes and scoring five points.

• Slippery Rock averages 13.9 second chance points per game while holding its opponents to just 9.6 second chance points ( 4.3).

• In four career games against Clarion, Henderson has averaged 7.8 points and 5.0 rebounds per contest. As a freshman a year ago, Hinderliter averaged 17.5 points and 7.5 rebounds in two games against Clarion.

• Heinle collected three offensive rebounds against Indiana to improve her career total to 132, the seventh most in Rock history. She needs nine more to move into a tie for sixth place in career offensive rebounds at The Rock with D'Asia Chambers (2011-15).
