SCOUTING THE ROCK
Team Notes:
• Slippery Rock extended its winning streak to five games, the longest of the season, with a doubleheader sweep of Clarion University on Wednesday afternoon. The Rock also produced a season-high run total in the 15-7 win over the Golden Eagles, and head coach Stacey Rice earned her 50th career victory in the 8-3 nightcap victory.

• With eight games left in the regular season, Slippery Rock is in fourth place in the PSAC West standings and two games behind third-place California University (Pa.). The top three times in each division at the end of the year qualify for the conference tournament.

Top Bats:
• With 56 hits already this spring, Emily Nagle enters the weekend on the cusp of breaking the Slippery Rock single-season record for hits in a season. Nagle needs four hits to tie and five hits to break the record, which is held by Rice, who had 60 hits in 2007. Nagle leads the PSAC in batting average at .463 and had a 17-game hit streak mid-season.

• Following a four-RBI performance against Clarion, Lauren Hawley now leads The Rock on the season in RBI with 19 to go with two home runs, seven doubles and a .277 batting average.

• Caitlin Baxter leads SRU with three home runs and seven doubles, while she ranks second on the team in batting average (.364), RBI (18) and stolen bases (six).

• In addition to batting .343 on the season, Megan Brown has also stolen 17 bases, the sixth most in a single-season at SRU. It has taken Brown just two years to record 28 stolen bases, the seventh most in Rock history.

Kailey Myers (.300) and Nicole Siciliano (.275) round out SRU's top offensive performers.

Top Arms:
• In the circle for SRU, Brooke Dawson has won her last four starts to improve to 10-6 with a 1.82 ERA and 78 strikeouts over 103.2 innings pitched. Her 10 wins ranks second among all pitchers in the PSAC West.

• Carly DeRose has won her last two starts to improve to 5-7 on the year with a 3.26 ERA and a .229 batting average against. DeRose now has 27 career wins, three away from the SRU career record of 30 currently held by Shauna Walker (2008-11).

Andria Copelli (3.38 ERA) and Paige Flore (4.90) also contribute to The Rock's pitching rotation.

Head Coach:
• Slippery Rock head coach Stacey Rice is in her third season at the helm after leading SRU to a 20-23 record last spring and a spot in the PSAC Tournament for the first time since 2009. The 20 victories were the most for Slippery Rock since the 2010 season. A 2008 graduate of SRU, Rice is one of the most decorated players in program history. She is still the all-time leader in eight different statistical categories including runs scored (143) and hits (186).
