SCOUTING THE ROCK
• LAST TIME OUT – Slippery Rock had its three-game winning streak snapped in a 79-68 loss to Walsh on Nov. 25.
Ciara Patterson scored 21 points and
LeeAnn Gibson grabbed seven rebounds in the loss.
Â
• CROSSOVER SUCCESS - Slippery Rock has enjoyed a 10-4 record against teams in the PSAC East over the last three seasons. SRU went 4-2 in crossover games in both 2016-17 and 2015-16 and is 2-0 this year after defeating Shippensburg and Kutztown earlier in the season. As a whole, the PSAC West has dominated its games with the PSAC East this season with a 14-4 record in crossover games.
Â
• WINNING BY DOUBLE DIGITS – Slippery Rock has won all three of its games by at least 14 points and is averaging 74.0 points per game overall this season, which ranks fifth in the PSAC. Three Rock players average at least 14 ppg in
Brooke Hinderliter (15.7), Patterson (15.2) and
Madison Johnson (14.2) with Heinle rounding out The Rock's top scorers at 7.3 points per game.
Â
• CONTROLLING THE BOARDS - SRU has recorded a +30 (187-157) rebounding margin over its last four games. Overall, Slippery Rock is the second best rebounding team in the PSAC at 43.0 rebounds per game. SRU is the only team in the Atlantic Region (PSAC, MEC, CIAA) to have seven players average at least 4.0 rebounds per game. Hinderliter leads the way at 6.3 followed by
Krista Pietropola (5.8),
Morgan Henderson (5.5), Gibson (5.0), Heinle (4.8), Johnson (4.2) and Patterson (4.0).Â
Â
• CRASHING THE OFFENSIVE GLASS – 15.8 of The Rock's 43 rebounds per game come on the offensive glass, the third highest average in the PSAC. Hinderliter averages 3.7 offensive rebounds per game with the quintet of Johnson (1.8), Heinle (1.8), Gibson (1.7), Pietropola (1.5) and Henderson (1.4) all pulling in at least one offensive rebound per game as well.
Â
• PSAC WEST ATHLETE OF THE WEEK - Hinderliter was named the PSAC West Athlete of the Week after leading SRU to a 1-1 record last week with a win at West Liberty and a loss to Walsh. She averaged 21.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.5 steals per game while shooting an efficient 51.6 percent (16-for-31) from the field and 76.9 percent (10-for-13) from the free throw line. The highlight of Hinderliter's week was a career-high 29-point showing at West Liberty. In addition to leading The Rock in scoring and rebounding in 2017-18, Hinderliter has also passed out a team-high 2.7 assists per game while shooting 47.2 percent from the field and 80.6 percent from the foul line in 2017-18.
Â
• BACK-TO-BACK 21-POINT GAMES – Patterson has produced back-to-back 21-point games. A 20-point game against Lock Haven would make Patterson just one of five players at The Rock to score at least 20 points in three straight games since 2002-03. Patterson has four games with at least 20 points over her career, the ninth most at SRU in the last 16 years.
Â
• FINISHING STRONG – Patterson's back-to-back 21-point games have come thanks to great shooting over the final three quarters of both games. She is just a combined 0-for-9 in the first quarter of the last two games, but a great 17-for-35 (.486) from the field over the final three quarters of both contests.
Â
• SNIPER - Johnson has been one the best overall shooters not only at The Rock this season, but in the entire PSAC. She heads into the weekend shooting 50 percent (27-for-54) from the field, 50 percent (8-for-16) from 3-point range and 85.2 percent (23-for-27) from the free throw line. No player in SRU history has ever finished a season shooting 50 percent from the field, 50 percent from 3-point range and 80 percent from the free throw line.
Â
• APPROACHING 500 - Heinle needs five more points to become the 50th player in program history to score 500 points in a career. She already ranks 10th in SRU history in offensive rebounds with 120 and has the chance to become just the 15th player in program history to record 500 points and 500 rebounds in a career.  Â
Â
• BOMBS AWAY – Patterson and Pietropola both rank in the top 16 all-time at SRU in 3-pointers made. Patterson has 67 career 3-pointers and is in a tie for 14th with former Rock great D'Asia Chambers while Pietropola ranks 16th all-time with 65 career 3's.
Â
• LIMITING THE MISTAKES - The Rock averages 13.6 turnovers per game in wins this season, but that number balloons up to 18.3 turnovers per game in its losses. Â
Â
• BLOCK PARTY – Through six games, Slippery Rock has totaled 20 blocked shots, the fifth most in the PSAC. SRU is on pace for 90 blocks this season, which would be tied for the third most in program history. Henderson and Patterson have accounted for 10 of The Rock's 20 blocks with five apiece. Heinle and Pietropola have three blocks each while Johnson and
Skyla O'Connor have two rejections apiece as well. Henderson enters the weekend ranked 15th in program history in blocks with 31. She is five away from passing current SRU graduate assistant coach
Sorriyah Ranger for 14th place all-time.

Â
• The Huskies have struggled to score this season. BU ranks last in the PSAC in scoring (58.4 ppg) and next to last in turnovers per game (23.0). However, Bloomsburg also allows only 62.4 ppg, the third fewest in the conference. Opponents are shooting just 35.7 percent against the Huskies.
