Paid Video StreamSLIPPERY ROCK, Pa.- The Slippery Rock University softball team heads south this weekend to compete in the National Training Center Tournament in Clermont, Florida over spring break. The Rock will face 11 non-conference opponents in 12 games across seven days.

SCOUTING THE ROCKRecord: 4-1
Overview: Slippery Rock went 4-1 two weeks ago at the season-opening Snowbird Freeze Out in Myrtle Beach, S.C. after collecting wins against Mercy College, Merrimack College, LeMoyne College and Mansfield University.
Top Bats: Senior
Megan Maloney leads the team with a .533 batting average (8-for-15). Senior
Ashley Samluk is hitting .412 (7-for-17) with a team-high seven RBI. Additionally, senior
Katie Kaiser (.294) has recorded five hits and one home run, while junior
Caitlin Baxter (.308) and sophomore
Emily Nagle (.286) have registered four hits apiece.
Top Arms: Leading the charge will be junior pitcher
Carly DeRose, who is 2-0 in three appearances so far this season. Across 15 innings pitches, she has logged 17 strikeouts. Sophomore
Brooke Dawson (1-1) has pitched 15 innings and recorded 15 strikeouts.

SCOUTING CHARLESTONRecord: 4-2
Overview: The Golden Eagles are hot off a three-game win streak after picking up victories against Coker College, Bloomsburg University and King University at the Coker Spring Tournament. Laura Ashlock went 6-for-12 in the tournament with four RBI, two doubles and two home runs. Jessie Rowe picked up a win and two saves in 14 innings pitched, while Alli Burdette earned two wins in her 12 innings of work.
SCOUTING MINNESOTA STATERecord: 4-4
Overview: The Mavericks earned a 7-1 win against Fort Hays State in their last outing on Feb. 20. Dana Mogren is hitting .435 (10-for-23) with two home runs and seven RBI to lead the team, while Karli DesLauriers (.400) is 8-for-20 this year. Coley Ries is 3-3 on the year with a 3.03 ERA as the Mavericks' go-to pitcher this spring. Ries has logged three complete games, with 32 innings pitched in five starts. She has one shutout and 47 strikeouts on the year.
SCOUTING SAINT JOSEPH Record: 1-8
Overview: The Pumas earned a 12-9 win against Indiana Wesleyan University in the season-opener on Feb. 20 but have lost every game since. Ashley Whitaker is hitting .368 with three home runs and 12 RBI. Leading the charge for the Pumas is Morgan Masters, who has started in three of seven appearances and recorded 11 strikeouts.
SCOUTING MINNESOTA DULUTHRecord: 2-5
Overview: The Bulldogs are coming off a 6-1 loss to Bemidji State on Feb. 23. Natalie Wright leads the team with a .318 batting average (6-for-22) and a team-high five RBI. Sam Hartman and Cayli Sadler split time inside the circle for the Bulldogs. Hartman has started in four games and posts a 4.27 ERA, while Sadler has started in three games with a 4.55 ERA.
SCOUTING UPPER IOWARecord: 5-7
Overview: The Peacocks went 2-2 at the Lewis Flyer Dome Invitational last weekend after earning wins against Illinois Springfield and Missouri S&T. Sammy Garrett is hitting .371 to lead the team (13-for-35). Jacqueline Flood anchors the pitching rotation with a 2.56 ERA. She has logged two complete games with 38.1 innings pitched in two starts. Brooke Redmond and Courtney Clayberg also see time inside the circle for the Peacocks.
SCOUTING WINONA STATERecord: 7-1
Overview: The Warriors went 5-1 at the WSU Dome Tournament two weekends ago. Reed Karsten is batting .462 with 12 hits and eight RBI to lead the team. Hanna Lythberg is 4-0 in five appearances inside the circle this spring. She has logged a 1.40 ERA and 20 strikeouts this season.
SCOUTING WAYNE STATE COLLEGERecord: 1-5
Overview: The Wildcats dropped the first five games of the season before earning a 7-3 win over Fort Hays State on March 1. Lexie Loos is batting .500 for WSC with team-highs of 11 hits and five RBI. Cassy Miller anchors the pitching rotation and has logged 25.1 innings pitched in five starts. Miller posts an ERA of 6.63 and has struck out 19 batters this spring.
SCOUTING SIOUX FALLSRecord: 6-2
Overview: The Cougars went 2-2 at the Teri Mathis Zenner Invitational in Joplin, Mo. last weekend with wins against Northeastern State and Missouri Western State. Brooke Stetzler has a team-best .481 batting average on 13 hits. Breanna Black (1.35 ERA) and Kerrigan Hoshaw (1.96 ERA) have both started as pitcher in four games apiece .
SCOUTING WEST CHESTERRecord: 10-0
Overview: Most recently, the Golden Rams picked up two wins apiece against Barton College and Chowan University at the Hawks Softball Classic in Murfreesboro, N.C. last weekend. Madison Kelly has a .571 batting average with a team-high 16 hits. Additionally, Alyssa Herion has blasted five home runs and has a team-high 15 RBI. Amanda Houck has started in five games and posts a 0.69 ERA to lead the pitching effort for the Golden Rams.
SCOUTING GRAND VALLEY STATERecord: 4-0
Overview: The Lakers won all four games at the Lewis Dome Tournament in Rosemont, Ill. last weekend. Mckenze Supernaw is hitting .538 with a 7-for-13 plate performance. Allison Lipovsky and Sara Andrasik both see time inside the circle for the Lakers.
SCOUTING SAINT THOMAS AQUINASRecord: 0-0
Overview: The Spartans will open up the season on March 9 at Dominican before traveling south to take on The Rock. Samantha McDonald is the Spartan's top returner. She hit .359 (51-for-142) last season, with team-highs of nine home run and 26 RBI. Julie Sosnicki, who started in 17 of 22 appearances last season, is the top returner pitcher for STAC after posting a 4.73 ERA last spring.
